    Tankage material

It seems like you can find a boat with just about every type of material used for it's fresh water, holding, and fuel tanks. What's the best material for long term durability for each of these (for gasoline and for diesel for the fuel tank)? Thanks. -Mark

    Wood core or not?

Does anyone know some cruiser/trawler manufacturers that do not use wood (either plywood or balsa) in the coring of their decks, cabins, etc? I only know of Seaway boats and Great Harbour Trawlers that do not. Also anyone have any knowledge or experience with the Camano line of boats? They...

    Living Aboard

Has anyone on here actually lived aboard their boat for more than a few weeks at a time? How do the costs compare to living on land? If you don't include the purchase price of the boat and compare it to owning a house out right, what is the cost comparison? Living in what size house would...

    Outboard Lower Unit

I just changed the lower gear oil in my 75HP outboard and noticed that it was somewhat milky in color. I didn't notice any metal parts (fine or otherwise). Is it normal to have a little water in the lower unit? The owners manual states that it's ok to see fine metal in the oil, but mine came...

    Prop sizing

I have a 75 HP Mercury 2 stroke running an aluminum 13 1/4" X 17" prop. I need a new propeller and would like to go to a slightly lower pitch as I'm just barely touching the low end of the rpm I should be at at WOT. I get about 4600 rpm when WOT should be 4700-5200. The problem is when...

    Larivee Boats

I came across a year 2000 21 foot pilot house boat built in Canada called a Larivee. I never heard of them, and not much info on the internet about them, out of business I presume. Just wondering if anyone on here has heard or knows anything about them. Quality, ride, etc. Thanks. -Mark

    C-Dory 16 Cruiser Performance with a 50 HP 4 stroke

Hello, I'm looking at C-16 Cruiser with a 50HP 4 stroke and was wondering what the top speed is with 1 person? 2 people? 3? 4? What's the max load on this boat? I remember someone mentioning that they had a 40 HP 4 stroke on theirs and it could barely plane off with more than 2 people in...

    Y Landing

Does anyone know about Y-Landing Marina at lake Winnipesaukee? Do they close up shop for the winter and not check phone or email? I'm trying to inquire about a C-Dory they have listed. Thanks. -Mark

    E15 Ethanol/Gasoline Blend Requirement

I was watching the news today and seen on the bottom of the screen something scroll by about a requirement for all gas stations to start pumping E15 blended gasoline by June 2010. I didn't catch the whole message and I tried searching the web for anything saying the same thing and couldn't find...

    Parker Boats

Anyone know of or ever had a Parker boat? They seem to have a nice Pilot house in 21 feet (Parker 2120 Sport Cabin) The cockpit is kind of 'biggish' with a 'smallish' cabin, but it looks like a nice clean simple design. They seem unique in their construction, solid glass hull, wood stringers...

    Cored Hulls

Are C-Dory's Balsa cored below the waterline? Has anyone read any of the articles by David Pascoe? http://www.yachtsurvey.com/structuralissues.htm It makes you want to start your own boat company... -Mark

    Japanese vs American outboards

I've always had Japanese outboards (Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Yamaha) and was wondering if anyone had experience with the latest Mercury 4 stroke fuel injected outboards (50-100hp range) and how they compare to their Japanese counterparts Thanks again. -Mark

    Bottom Painting on the trailer

So how do you bottom paint your C-Dory when it's on trailer, more specifically how do you get to the spots where the boat is resting on the bunks? I imagine if you have rollers, you can simply pull the boat back off the trailer a foot or so, but how do you do it with bunks? Thanks. -Mark
