    C-Quest's last ride

We did an overnight on a friends chartered Cutwater from Anacortes to Sidney, BC on Sunday, then returned and picked up our 22 for a night on Sucia. Upon return I cleaned the boat and put it to bed for the winter. Next day we spent at the boat show and today I am cleaning out the boat as it is...

    Camper back mounting to cabin

I am getting ready to have a camper back made, how is it connected to the cabin? I have seen a few pic that are just snapped directly to the fiberglass and others looks like there is something affixed to the cabin and then the canvas snaps to that piece. What is the best way?

    Choosing the right windlass

Due to pending shoulder surgery that will prevent me from manual pulling the anchor, I am looking at a windlass, so many options. Considering the Lemar Pro Fish for it's free fall function, as I mostly boat solo and dropping the anchor fast seems like a good option. The other 2 would be the...

    Christmas gifts for 2011

This year we are flying out to Houston for Christmas and my brother in law decided to send out gifts to us eary so we would not to haul them back. This was a good plan considering the gift he gave me. The TSA would have a field day with this. A bit big for a 22, have no idea where to mount...

    8 days in Alaska

I just returned from an 8 day Alaska adventure on a 64' chartered yacht. Planning began after a friend of mine had a major back injury and I was recovering from open heart surgery. He asked my wife and I to join them for an adventure. We started pouring over websites, reviews ect. and landed...

    Sacramento boat show

The Sacramento boat show is being held this weekend at Cal-Expo. The list of vendors shows C-Dory by the Outboard motor shop. Looking at their inventory it only shows a 2009 26 Venture in stock, so I assume they will have that on hand. I have always wanted to check out one of those. The...

    Juneau Alaska info needed

Greetings Brats My wife and I are joining another couple on a chartered 64" yacht this summer leaving out of Sitka and ending in Juneau. We will lay over in Juneau a day or so and looking for hotel and eateries that cannot be missed, and anything else we can see and do in a day. I would love...

    Matt Gurnsey's article

Congratulations Matt for the article in the current issue of "Sea" magazine on the sea trial of a new boat. While it is based mostly on larger boats than the C-Dory the basic principles apply.

    New C-Dory on the block

I have finally made the plunge. I have been looking for awhile. Found the boat and test drove last weekend. Then the wife came into the picture and said abosolutely not-whats wrong with the boat we have. Next morning it was a chage of heart and the words of "honey I want you to have the boat...

Crossing the border and money exchange

I will be headed to Sidney, Canada in a few weeks to spend a couple of days. Will be leaving the boat at home. How does everyone handle day to day small purchases. I will use credit card for meals and such, but the small things of a few $ and such. Use US $ or exchange to Canadian money.

    Condensation in CD25

This is for all you CD25 owners. I have been researching for months and finally decided on a 23 Venture, so I took the wife out over the weekend to take a peak. She liked the Venture, after we were on level ground she looked over and saw a 25 and climbed aboard, boy did she like the head. So...

    Boat on trailer sitting wrong

This is a 23 Venture, looks like about 2' overhanging the back of the trailer and the motor is not even mounted yet. I would think this would be a lot of stress on the transom. http://www.mastermarine.com/boat_detail.php?key=109

Bottom paint, the good and the bad

I have never owned a boat with bottom paint, is this a good thing to look for? I plan on storing the boat on the trailer with the exception of some long trip on the inside passage. Is this something I willl need to refresh every few years and is the boats performance down graded?

    Cabin heat alternatives

Wondering if anyone has tried using "bunk warmers" instead of running the Wallas all night. We used these in the trucking industry. There were many a night when I would wake up and my shoes would be frozen, however I was nice and toasty using this under me. For those who are not familiar with...

    Loan interest rates

Starting my search for a Dory, am considering the new vs used. Anyone know what the interest rates are going these days? Would love to get into a new venture, but a used 22 is looking more affordable for me. I still have a 2006 Striper that will need to be sold and it is a hard market out there.
