    Thataway sighting!!!

I'm a big fan of Bob Austin and his former boat, Thataway. His advice, either directly to me, or indirectly through others, has been immensely helpful to me. Anyway, I'm up here in Bellingham, WA, about as far away from from Pensacoloa as you can get in the lower 48. This afternoon, I was...

    Bellingham WA Craigslist C-Dory 25ft

I just saw this pop up on the Bellingham, WA Craigslist. Newer 25, could be a good deal for someone with a bit of $$. https://bellingham.craigslist.org/boa/d ... 03704.html

    New high (low?) for C-Dorys?

I noticed this weekend that someone posted a 1983 C-Dory, with a 2014 70 HP Yamaha, for sale for 35K. I don't think I've ever seen a C-Dory that old, even with a newer engine (it would almost have to be), listed for that kind of price. Seems crazy to me. A brand new Yamaha 70 hp can be had for...

    So. Many. C-Dorys.

We pulled into Deer Harbor for an overnighter on Tuesday and there were no less than 5 C-dories on the visitors C dock in the 24 hours we were there, including three 25 footers. We docked right next to Dave and Ruth on the Raven Dancer. Wonderful people and we had a wonderful time chatting...

Temperature Setting on Seaward Hot Water Heater

Hello, I have a Seaward hot water heater, model S700 on my 2007 25' c-dory. The water coming out of that thing is dangerously hot. I can't figure out a way to turn down the max temp on the heater. Perhaps there is not a way. The manual says nothing about this and I can't find much online...

Going rate for slant back canvas cover?

I'd like to have a snap-on, slant back, Sunbrella canvas cockpit cover made for my 25' c-dory. Not a camper back. Anybody know the going rate these days in the PNW? I've been somewhat shocked by the quotes I've received so far, and not in a good way.

    Reefnets

http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_albumName=Surf-Scoter&id=reefnetters&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php Well, I accidentally posted this to the wrong topic, but oh well. We took the boat out today to visit my friends who own a reefnet off of Lummi Island. A...

    Water under the v-berth question...

Hello All, I looked at 2007 25-c-dory today for possible purchase. Most everything looked great and there have been several upgrades. My one concern...there was a small, round inspection hatch on the cut-away floor under the v-berth (the place where one would place the portable head on a...

    Looking at a 25' C-dory: Advice please

Hello All, I'm looking at a 2007 25 c-dory tomorrow with a 2007 Honda 135 with 1100 hours. It was surveyed last year, and I've looked over that report. Is there anything of note from that particular vintage that should I pay close attention to? I currently own a 22' 1982 C-dory, which...

    Honda 135 outboard on a 25'

I'm looking at a 25' c-dory, currently with a Honda 135. That seems a bit under-powered to me. Does anyone have any experience with running a 135 on a 25'? Thanks

    Anybody know about this model?

Hello All...I ran across this add for an older C-Dory up in Washington State https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/ ... 36273.html What really got my notice was the following text in the ad: "these are non planning hulls, very stealth like, very dry and warm, also very SLOW. Can that be...

Your thoughts about this Cape Cruiser for Sale

https://bellingham.craigslist.org/boa/d ... 79652.html Hi folks, I'm going to take a look at this boat. Any thoughts from the greater brain trust here? The motors are original but very low hours. I'm wondering also if it might be underpowered and/or overpriced. thanks, Johrn

    Bigger boatitis cured, for now.

A good friend of my just sold his 26' Tollycraft and upgraded to a new-to-him 36 foot Grand Banks Trawler. I've always like the look of a Grand Banks. I drove down to Seattle this weekend to help him cruise it to a boatyard where he will have some minor repair work done. I confess that I've...

    lunch hook recommendation

Hello All, I have an older 22' C-dory classic. It has no windlass or anchor locker. My current anchor and rode system is an overkill. A lot of chain and a bigger anchor than I need (I transferred it from a larger boat I had). It does, however, give me great amount of comfort when I set...

    Gulf Islands Advice

Our family has done most of our cruising in the San Juan's, but we would like to start exploring the Gulf Islands. In particular, we enjoy places like Cypress and Sucia Islands where we can set up a primitive camp on the beach and hike, go crabbing and tide pooling, etc... Does anyone have any...

    News from Gate 8

Saturday is the start of the crabbing season for area 7S of the Puget Sound and from the activity at Gate 8, Squalicum Harbor, Bellingham, I would guess that the entire state will be crabbing tomorrow. I've also notice that there are two other C-Dorys at Gate 8 this summer, either of which...

    Downrigger placement advice please

I'm going to mount a Scotty swivel base for both a downrigger and a davit for pulling crab traps. For those with some experience in these matters, especially with regards to downriggers, can you please look at my album...the slide titled: Slide 1. I'm thinking of mounting the base at position...

Working on your boat when it's cold.

This weekend it was so calm and cold in Bellingham, WA that a layer of ice formed in the Squalicum Marina where I keep my boat. The salt water didn't really freeze, but the overlaying freshwater lens from the local river did. Anyway, I was working on my boat on Saturday and I dropped my...

What a storm in the PNW!

I don't think I've ever seen Bellingham Bay like I saw it today (I was on shore!). For a while this afternoon there were sustained winds over 40 kts with gust to I can't even guess. I actually saw a couple of small craft trying to make way in that gale. I feared for their safety. Madness to...
