    Life's Memorable Events

Marty: I was a 20 year old marine in 1950, landed in Korea at Inchon. Went to Seoul, then to N Korea and the frozen Chosen. That's where we lost all the corpsman, plus several hundred more Marines. For you young guys you can read about by typing in Chosen reservoir USMC. I picked up a...

Took chance on 22’ 1986 classic

The only balsa core in your 86 is in the transom, the cockpit and foreward deck are one inch +or - plywood. Balsa core in the cockpit and foreward deck began in 1987. My 1985 leaked thru the two cockpit drains. You can pull the brass tubes and check for water and do a proper seal, easy one hour job.

    Bottom flexing?

I owned an 1985 for a number of years, the bottom is 1" or 1.25 inches of non-marine plywood. Most of the older classics have had trasom problems with leaking at the two cockpit drains filling the lower trasom with water which then wicks overtime into the unsealed end of the non marine plywood...

Stay on shore on the 4th, your taking your life in your hands being on the water with drunks driving 30 + footers throwing 4 and 5 foot wakes coming up on both sides of you in the dark throwing you and your guests about and trying too keep control. No fun Btdt. Never again. Old guy.

If lt is pre 1987 it may be plywood deck and the bottom also will be plywood. Transom will be some plywood and balsa core. Good luck, have fun.

    Marinaut Kicker Information

My engine is a two stroke 9.9 @ 70 lbs on the port side of a 1985 Classic. I can stand in front of it and bend over and with one hand, grab the back hand grip and it comes quite easy. You can always put the spring back or get a lesser, one if one is not enough. By the way did I mention I'am...
