    Window felt liner

About 6 inches of the felt liner on the starboard sliding window on my Tomcat has come out of its groove and is flapping in the breeze. If I try to push it back into into the groove, it just comes out again the next time the window is slid back. Any suggestions?

tomcat 255 versus glacier bay 2640 renegade sx

There is a quite a bit of information on the Glacier bay vs the Tomcat on this site. Do a search on "Glacier Bay and Tomcat" and click "search for all terms". Enjoy. On edit: Dr. Bob got in there ahead of me. Most of the info was in his posts anyway!

    Anchor tests

Bob: Thanks for the info. I agree with your comment about the Fortress being too bulky as the primary anchor. However, it makes a great back-up anchor. It is flat and very light. I carry a Fortress fully assembled in the locker under the aft dinette seat, cushioned between lifejackets. It...

I added Permatrims last year. This issue was present before the Permatrims were put on.

    Twin outboards unequal fuel consumption

I have a Tomcat 255 with twin 150 Suzukis and counter-rotating props. I have noticed the same thing- the starboard engine uses up to 10% more fuel than the port engine. This has to be a characteristic of the Tomcat. Does it have something to do with the list to starboard that all Tomcats seem...

What Type of Resin is used on TC255?

I will defer to Bob's "thataway" Austin's more detailed explanation above. He knows a lot more about this than many of us.

What Type of Resin is used on TC255?

When I talked to the factory in 2006, I was told that the Tomcat hull was laid with Vinylester resin. If you are considering bottom paint, there is a lot of stuff on this site on bottom paint/epoxy/vinyester/blisters

    Smoke from 4-stroke

I have Suzuki 150 4-strokes. In the Texas winter (Dusty- is that an oxymoron? ), a puff of smoke at start-up is not unusual. After that, I have never noticed visible smoke.

A related (and relevant) question might be- how many C-Dory owners have taken one or more seamanship/piloting/navigation courses from the Power Squadron or the Coast Guard?

To moore, or not to moore, that is the question

The slip, of course. I was driving back from the office just an hour ago. The sun was out, the temperature was about 60 degrees; it was a beautiful, crisp, clear day with just a few small fluffy clouds in the sky. The ocean was calm with just a slight ripple. The birds were out having fun...

    Bottom paint on new boat

Basecampanne: Fresh water, because of its lower osmolaity, is even more prone to causing blisters than salt water. If your boat is going to be kept in the water most of the time, it does not matter whether the water is fresh or salt. The hull needs both blister protection as well as prevention...

    Susuki Tilt Limiter Cam

Another situation with the Suzuki cams- if they are adjusted differently, the motors in a two engine boat will rise to different heights in the fully "up" position. Drove me nuts until I figured it out.

    TC255

If I remember correctly, the draft is about 30 inches with the motors down. A lot has been written about the TC 255 (Tomcat) on this site. As a good starting point, go to the "Search" function above. In "Keywords" type "Tomcat"; in "Author" type "Thataway"; make sure the "Forums" says "All...
