    Winterization questions

After a full days work (I’m kinda “special” when it comes to maintenance), the winterize rion is done! Almost. Forgot to do the wash down spigot. I’ll do that tomorrow. Holding tank macerator is inoperable so didnt do that. Not sure if I’m supposed to hit the bilge pumps. I did successfully...

    Updates and of course questions

Finally at the boat with up to four days of no competing obligations! Today is Get It Ready Day. Fuse to anchor light is intact. It’s shared with navy lights, which work, so that was a long shot. Not sure how I’m going to disconnect the light pole. Have to climb up and take a look. I’m...

    About that anchor light...

Never heard of lighted fuses. Given that I spent more than two weeks tracking down an electrical problem on a simple fishing boat (who knew there were two batteries and I was messing with the trolling battery instead of the main one?), I need all the help that I can get.

I really need to get to know my boat better. I DON'T have a radar arch but I DO have an AC/heat unit on the cabintop! That complicates dinghy stowage a bit. A problem to solve on another day. Tomorrow I will finally get the boat properly winterized - and then head out for a shakedown cruise...

    Down East Circle Cruise?

Bras d'Or is definitely on the list. I've Google Earthed the whole area and there are certainly some passages without good bailout options in the wrong wind conditions. Just need to keep a real close eye on the weather and look windows to get through those areas in a hurry on a calm, clear day...

    Down East Circle Cruise?

I'd forgotten about the Paratrooper. Looked at it briefly when I was living in an apartment in New York but ended up getting a regular bike instead (bikes are perfectly acceptable as furniture in NYC apartments). Price doesn't look too bad either. Your recommendation for rideability is a real...

    About that anchor light...

One of the items found in my purchase survey was an inoperable anchor light. I believe it's an LED so a burned out bulb is less likely than a wiring problem. Only a few of you C Brats are familiar with my stunning incompetence when it comes to all things mechanical and electrical. Want an epic...

    Down East Circle Cruise?

And thank goodness for the difference! I know some folks really enjoy the cocktail cruising style and the community of fellow travelers. I'm more of a sit in the middle of the lake and listen to loons kind of guy. For side trips, I am looking forward to biking which, after boating, is my...

Very nice setup! Looks like it would make hoisting and launching a non-event. I'll post some pictures of my radar arch tomorrow (it's forward) and see how that might alter the setup. I think I'd be looking at taking some of the weight on the bimini frame. I'll have to see how how sturdy it is...

    Down East Circle Cruise?

Thanks! I've ordered it. I'm always of two minds when reading books about adventures that I plan on taking. It's good to know some facts but reducing the unknowns takes away some of the adventure. Having read five or six Great Loop books did help me decide that doing the whole loop is not my...

Colby, do you find the Hobie stable to step into? I just sold my big Hobie (would have been way too heavy to heave up there) but the inflatable looks like a nice option. Can't beat Hobie quality IMHO
