    Failed Dockline

The Top Knot lines I have do not use heat shrink tubing for the splices but are fabric and have a quality feel. I sent a query to the company asking about some of the issues you raised and this was their response: I understand opinions - like anchors - may vary but my experience has been good...

    Failed Dockline

I've had good experience with Top Knot lines. Note how the loops are sewn, not spliced, so I would think it easy to see any impending failure. But in years of use I've never had a failure.

Economy, twin emgines vs. single engine

You might also give a call to Sportcraft Marina (just south of Portland) to see what they have in stock. They often have some new/used models in the yard that you can crawl around. Can you expand a bit on what you mean by living aboard? I believe most people who take extended trips still hit...

    07/24 - 07/26 - Ladysmith, BC

We also had a terrific time. Met lots of new people and saw a bit of Ladysmith (including maybe too much of the Old Town Bakery and their cinnamon rolls). One more item: during the boat tours several people wanted to know where I got my 1/2" split cable sheathing I used on my solar panel...

Anchor Roller for Rocna 13 lb

Have you though about how you're going to install it? It's unlikely the new bolt pattern will be the same as what you have now.

    Rocket Launcher Shopping

I have a single bar with a handful of the clamp on rocket launchers sitting in my garage. Took it off my CC 23 when I had a taller arch installed for dinghy clearance. Not sure of the width and you'd probably have to get the pads reset as the arch of your roof is different. PM me if you're...

    Trailer??

The trailer is nice for all the reasons mentioned so if you've got a reasonable place to store the empty trailer that's a good choice. Of course you can always buy a trailer at a later date if you just don't want the hassle. Also note you can rent a pickup from U-Haul that easily tows the boat.

    Catastrophic failure of Honda BF150

You might get a quote from Sportcraft down here in Portland. They sell Honda and Suzuki... and no sales tax :)

    Super Cleaning the Windshield

I once drilled out a steel rivet over the windshield then swept up the filings - or so it thought. After the next rain there was a zillion tiny rust spots in my non-skip. Good times cleaning that up :) Btw, baking soda and water makes a great mild abrasive.

Rosborough, C-Dory, Rosborough, C-Dory....oh the tough calls

We spend about 50 nights a year in the boat on the Columbia in the Portland area. After the initial novelty wore off in the local area we found ourselves ranging farther and farther from our slip at Rodgers Marina. As such we really appreciate the speed of the Cape Cruiser 23. Not sure about...

Has anyone cruised the inside passage?

Mike, Modern well maintained engines are very reliable and hence it's unlikely you'll even need your kicker. It sounds like you've taken reasonable precautions so just go for it! After all, we have small boats and you'll never be able to get all the available safety gear on board so at some...

    No Condensation,

I have a 2007 Cape Cruiser so no factory insulation. I believe that became available in 2008 when C-Dory took over manufacturing.

    No Condensation,

I insulated the V-berth on Williwaw using closed cell foam (1/2" ceiling, 3/8" walls) and it made a MASSIVE difference. Highly recommended for anybody that spends much time sleeping on the boat. No more condensation on walls or ceiling. I made paper templates for half the berth from brown...

    Show me your Camper Canvas!!!

You might want to check out King Canvas in Seattle. The canvas on our 2007 Cape Cruiser 23 was done by them and it has all the features you're looking for. They seem very familiar with C-Dory's so I imagine they've got the patterns to make a cover without your boat being present.

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Well... you seem qualified. I can't wait for the rest of the story where your grateful kid surprises you with a new boat.

    Electric Over Hydraulic - Needed?????

I recently installed EoH on my EZLoader trailer and can affirm that the improvement in braking response is significant. I like, for example, that my brakes are applied backing down the ramp and that I can lightly touch the brakes in traffic and feel the trailer respond instantly. But is it...

    Kicker Installation on 26 Venture

You might want to consider getting a Trollmaster throttle control for the kicker. They're easy to install and for those times when you have the connecting rod installed it's nice to be able to control everything from the helm.

    Trolling Helm on Blueback

In a world gone crazy with hi-tech gizmos I have to say there's something deeply satisfying about that setup. Thanks for sharing.

iPad3 discharges over course of the day

Often devices can consume copious battery when constantly scanning for a network connection. Does your iPad support AT&T/Verizon? If so try turning it off. Wifi can also be an issue. A simple test would be to put it in Airplane Mode and see if it helps.
