Does the Tomcat have sitting headroom in the V-berth?

We've only been on one Tomcat, briefly, and do not remember all the details. Wondering if one person can sit up and read or use laptop in the V-berth area on Tomcat?

    TomCat Range

Thanks to Brent and Dixie and others for posting their slow cruise mpg with the Tomcat. We love this boat design for it's roominess and stability, but 2mpg or less is daunting. I have been curious as to what the slow cruise potential of this boat is and it's good to get some real numbers. I am...

    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

Pat, I'm guessing that those 4/s are supposed to be 11/s? Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed following you and Patty on your grand adventure, and hope to follow in your wake one day.

    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

Pat I have enjoyed following along with your blog, and a question arises. If you had not had a dog with you, would a dinghy have been required? It seems like shore trips for Baxter was your main use. Outside of that, did you really need to have a dinghy on this trip?

Video of FacDory Guys at Columbia Bar

Wow, Foggy and Harvey (hardee) just continued a two year old conversation like it was yesterday!

    Interesting center console c-dory

http://longislandyachtsales.com/22-c-do ... nsole.html Above link is to a CC that has been listed in New York for a long time now. Supposedly a "new demo never used" from 2008 with new motor $24,500. I wonder how legitimate that ad is?

    Interesting center console c-dory

The ad says 2017. I don't think that the current company is building the CC. But look how the motors are spaced. Without the kicker there looks to be room for a swim ladder, yet I always see twins positioned right next to each other in the middle. Is wider spacing possible on a mono? I mean...

    My new boat (part 4!)

Love your new boat, Jason, congrats!

Bow steering, broaching, and trim tabs

I am starting this thread to discuss an incident which I witnessed last October at the Apalachicola gathering. Tom and Joyce graciously invited my wife and I for a cruise up river on C-Otter, a C-25 and we were joined by Rusty and Jo Ann along with their other guests on Una Mas, a Venture 23...

    Swampscott Dory circa 1900

We took a ride on a boat with Hamilton Jet Drives which can stop in it's own length from 40mph. You ought to see that bow wave! It looks like you are about to become a submarine. Operating that Swampscott Dory would be a blast, and a real feeling of accomplishment once mastered.

Should we add a sub site for seasport?

Just a suggestion but perhaps the Ranger and Marinaut forums could be combined into a SOB---Some Other Boats---forum, for discussion of any boat other than a C-Dory? I see Owners moving up and down and in and out of C-Dory's, and some do own more than one boat, and that might be a place for such...

My boat is sold (South of Heaven)

Congrats Jason, and I for one want to hear all about whatever new boat you wind up with. Your postings have been informative and entertaining, and your fearless boat-upgrading has been inspiring. Good luck with your next one! Bill

    Where are all the Marinauts?

Les leaving the country is what put the Marinaut project on hiatus. If he was still building them and writing about them here then I do believe that they would still be being built and sold. I read everything here about them and really like a good bit of the thinking that went into these boats...

    New versus used?

If you can write the check without having to shortchange any of life's other commitments and the only reason to buy used is to get a good deal---then buy new and get just exactly what you want. You are not being dumb by buying new, at all, especially if you will keep the boat for several years...

    Daydream's Great Loop Blog!

Pat & Patty, I'm really enjoying your blog, follow along every day. I was wondering if you found cruising in New York harbor to be intimidating? We have discussed a possible someday Loop and my my wife said that the idea of being around large commercial traffic in a busy harbor terrified her...

    Sensei

I'm also curious about your take on the real-world differences between the Classic hull and the modern version. For some reason the original design has a certain appeal. We are aware that a bit of a V improves ride at speed, but was anything given up? Did the flat bottom have any benefits of...

Cost to repower a 22 Cruiser in 2017

If one found an older 22 Cruiser that needed a complete repower, what is a good ballpark figure, using nothing from existing setup, installed and complete? (except tax which varies by location) And of course that begs the question "repower with what?", so you should answer that part first! I...

    22 cruiser without cabin bulkhead?

I have run across a 2004 22 cruiser---not an angler---without the rear cabin bulkhead, just a drop cloth. The rest of the boat is standard cruiser layout. I have not seen this layout before. Was this a factory option?

25 Cruiser vs Tomcat in chop

Dr. Bob asked a great question "why your wife does not like to go fast?" and then named the reason "it is the pounding, spray and rolling?". Then BTDT put a fine point on it with "we can also listen to music and have an 'inside-voice' conversation while on-plane". Bingo. Most of our...

    Suncoast Boat Show Sarasota

Well first boat show under our belt and my mind is still reeling. Excess is the order of the day! My favorite was the monster center console with FIVE 400hp Verados hanging off the transom. Salesman said it would hit 90. Right. And then the Wefing's display, with Marc with his Tomcat and...
