You have dirty carbs and have a stuck needles, or something like it. Find a local mechanic (if you don't want to do it yourself) and rebuild the carbs. Or, at least break them down and clean them. In the short term you could take a gentle mallet rap to the carb which is leaking to see if you...

I see the same thing on my 199x BF90a's Tach. I tap the glass a couple of times and it comes back down to where it should be. The engine noise never changes so i accept it as a mechanical issue due to the vibration of running etc. I also trust my ear more than the tach anyway.

What is the name of the part of the Honda BF90 engine which the steering rod connects to push and pull and turn the engine? Mine is so rusty i don't think it is safe anymore and I'd like to try and replace it. Thanks in advance John
