    Boat Swapping

That would certainly be my issue - plus I have too many mods to explain how they work or sometimes don't work.

Nope, never bid even though $11.7k is a steal (under $10k was my limit). If I needed a boat and not a project, I would have bid for sure. But I'm driving our Winnebago View to New Mexico in a few weeks and leaving it there - then flying back and forth throughout the winter to get away from the...

    Wow..se c-dory

TOTALLY agree. If the price stays low enough, I'll be driving to NC next week. Outside of the unlikely/fixable wet balsa, there is nothing to our CD22 - simple and easy. The motor certainly is a concern, but I'm a closet motorhead so bring it on. I'm guessing it'll end above my willing to...

    Thanks to this site

Here are my thoughts on a windlass - we NEVER enjoy being in a marina (except for Fisherman's Wharf in Vancouver, BC and Victoria) even though sometimes we have no choice. In our Sundowner Tug we always would anchor out for the night. For 4 years use of our CD22 we only needed the anchor once...

    Thanks to this site

Congrats on your CD22 purchase. Now there are 3 of us in the Madison area - even though our CD22 is in Blaine, WA waiting for us to return and cruise the San Juan's. Our normal cruising area was Door County as we own a slip in Sturgeon Bay. Anyway, enjoy - you'll love it.

Would you buy agin or go another way ?

Our first "bigger" boat was a 32' Sundowner Tug - 23,000lbs, single screw, major amount of beautiful teak to maintain, complex expensive systems, expensive haul outs for expensive indoor storage, limited cruising area. So, we had all that in mind when we bought our CD22. In fact, my normal...

    Boat Trailering and Invasive Species

We just went through this process when we towed our CD22 from Wisconsin to Blaine, WA. We had the boat in our slip in Sturgeon Bay, WI for about a month. When we pulled the boat out, the Wisconsin DNR had a voluntary "wash down" station with two college kids doing the wash downs. Our CD22 was...

    super pod

That is an awesome video. Just knowing that we were in that area just a few weeks back. Another great reason that we drove 36hrs and 2000 miles (10mpg) with the CD22 in tow and left it there for at least a few years - never know what we'll see... Thanks for sharing that video.

    Fuel flow meter

We have a Honda digital speedometer which has the mpg and gph readings. 99% of the time I put the speed of the boat at the speed that burns 1 gph - usually around 5 to 6kts. I wouldn't run the boat without a fuel meter - its not the money for the fuel but the inconvenience of having to find...

    san juans this weekend

You might want to look into Standup Paddle Boards to use for your dingy. We use them on our CD22 and they work great to get around/explore/to shore/etc. We have the inflatable version that are very solid and easy to lift up and down from the top of our CD22. We didn't buy them to use as a...

    Our solar panel experience

We have the Victron 600 battery monitor on both our CD22 and motorhome. Easy install and certainly makes it nice knowing exactly what is happening with the batteries. http://www.victronenergy.com/battery-monitors/bmv-600s%20and%20bmv-602s/

    Nexus and declaring groceries

Last week before we left Blaine, WA for home, we had our Nexus interviews. All was good and we even received our Nexus cards in the mail already. Question that we have is when you cross into Canada/USA, what do you declare as far as groceries? Our plan would be to have No Fruits...

Norcold reefer on C-Dory 22 Cruiser

We just cut a couple boards and placed/wedged them on the bottom of the opening for the Norcold to sit on. Nothing on the sides. The unit slides in and out easily after removing the 4 bolts on the front. We have been very happy with the Norcold. Not huge, but so much better than carrying ice...

    Our solar panel experience

    Our solar panel experience

Before we left for the PNW, I installed a 100W solar panel kit that I purchased on Amazon for $185. On board we have a Norcold refrigerator/ freezer and we have a wallas stove, a laptop (watch movies at night), tablets, ipods, and smart phones. On top of that the cabin lights and the anchor...
