    Do Rocna Anchors self launch

We have a 1992 CD 22. It came with a Windline BRM-2 anchor roller and a 15 lb Lewmar Claw. It worked ok but didn't self launch. I changed to a Rocna Original 13 lb and found that the anchor would not stay in the Windline BRM-2 anchor roller on retrieval with the windlass. I changed the...

    Float Plan Registry

Thanks for sharing this. A nice option to have and something that we will probably use for some of our trips.

    Looking for Swim Step

You might check with EQ Harbor Marine on Whidbey Island. They built one for my CD 22 using some brackets they had and starboard. A two step ladder is attached that folds up under the swim step. I think you could fit a 3 step ladder if you had it fold up on top of the swim step. I don't recall...

    Expired Flares

Jay, Since you have done extensive boating up north, I was wondering if Canadian Customs has any issue with the 12 gauge pistol flares. I am carrying hand helds as I heard (rumor) that Canadian Customs was not ok with the pistol flare and catagorized it as a handgun. Thanks, Phil

    Pacific Northwest Cruising Guide(s)

Others have listed some great guides that we also enjoy. Here is another that we have and use extensively for the San Juan Islands: http://www.bluelatitudepress.com/index.html

    Boat Shelter Revival

We see these a lot in Colorado...at homes, businesses and in use at ski areas. They are stout but expensive. I don't know current cost but here is the link: http://www.weatherport.com/fabric_build ... buildings/

    Baja Cruise...Am I Crazy?

We met the couple that wrote the book as they are docents during the summer on Vendovi Island in the San Juans. They spend the winter updating the guidebooks and travel to Mexico regularly to confirm and update guidebook info. They enjoy visiting with people. I bet you could correspond with...

    Baja Cruise...Am I Crazy?

You are familiar with Baja, having lived there. There a number of cruising guides available that might provide helpful and up to date trip planning information. Haven't found one yet written by some one who did the trip in a C Dory though. The one listed here is from a couple in the San Juan...

How many hours between oil changes

We have a Honda 90 (injected) and change oil once per season or every 100 hours. I think that is what Honda calls for but interested in what others do as well.

    Choosing the right kicker

We have a Honda 9.9 electric start, tilt and trim on our CD 22 cruiser. It is a fine engine but heavy. Probably about 110 lbs. That is a disadvantage when trying to balance the boat load. Having it on the port side doesn't help since the water tank is also on that side. That being said, it...

    Olympic Peninsula Non-Ethanol fuel

This web site lists non ethanol gas availability by state...and allows you to delete stations in the inventory if they no longer carry it...or add new stations as well. I have found it very helpful in both winter and summer.

    Visting the Northwest

As many others have said, be sure to have a copy of Waggoners Guide. We also use a San Juan Islands Guidebook by Blue Lattitude Press. We find it to be an excellent compliment to Waggoners. It is available at : http://www.bluelatitudepress.com/bl_sji.html for about $40. The couple that...

    Cutwater 24

Here is a review: http://www.boats.com/reviews/boats/cutw ... ith-punch/ Looks like there are several power options, inboard gas, inboard diesel and outboard 300 hp Yamaha. Inboard gas is standard with the others optional. The 300 hp outboard is a $10k option. I have been on a Cutwater...

88 CD 22 at Sportcraft Marina

I noticed an 88 CD 22 with a newer 4 stroke Suzuki 90 and 15 hp kicker (2004) and a 2013 double axle EZ Loader trailer at Sportcraft in Oregon with an asking price of $24,950. Might make a nice deal for some one after having it surveyed. lt is on the second page of their preowned boat tab...

Anchor Roller for Rocna 13 lb

Thanks to all for the information! Several ways to get successfully to the endpoint on this issue. I chose the Lewmar that Sillawydna uses which is this: http://www.fisheriessupply.com/lewmar-d ... s-66840009. I liked the pivoting roller but mounting was more challenging to get it out far...

Anchor Roller for Rocna 13 lb

HunkyDory, Great photos of the medium Sea Dog with the Manson Boss. Looks like it works very well and keeps the anchor out from the bow a good distance. Couldn't tell from the photo with the resolution I had but are you using a winch with this roller as well? Also, interested in the...

Anchor Roller for Rocna 13 lb

Thanks to all for the information! I will give the Lewmar options a try for best working fit since they have been used with the Rocna and go from there. Still hoping to find someone using a winch with the Rocna on a CD 22 to see what roller they are using. Looks like Marc uses the pivoting...

Anchor Roller for Rocna 13 lb

We recently purchased a 13 lb Rocna for use on the CD-22 Cruiser with a V700 Lewmar Winch. The existing bow roller is a Windline BRM-2, which came with the boat and seems to be well suited for a Bruce or Lewmar Claw type anchor. We thought replacing the 16.5 lb Lewmar Claw with a Rocna would be...

    New C-Brat

Hi, by way of introduction we are Phil and Jan Barnes of Colorado Springs CO and Orcas Island WA (at least for part of the summer). We have benefited from this site for a long time beginning when we were first evaluating C-Dorys and then after we purchased a used boat and began to outfit it and...
