    Electric Adapters

I went and looked at the WM web site. $74.00. I was shocked. :D I could swear I paid less than $40.00 when I purchased mine. Heres a pic. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... /311/310/9 I started out the female plug route at Home Depot. They don't like returns on electrical stuff. The...

    Electric Adapters

I bought an adapter at West Marine that allows me to use a regular extention cord to plug into the shore power plug on the boat. Is this what you want to do? Its 1 piece. It plugs into the boat shore power recepticle, and the extension cord from the garage(or where ever)plugs into the other end...

    Thataway

Hi Bob, That the roof was cored is interesting. I haven't chopped any holes out of the center/raised portion of the roof on our 24. I did install one of the Nicro solar vents in the slope on the stb side, and there was just fiberglass in this area. I can take one of the interior grab rails loose...

    C-Brat overload?

I must confess, I scrutinize the TC threads more than others. I do try and pay attention to any of the other stuff that crosses over. Wallas, Honda, etc.. Nothing beats brand specific information. I really like the gulf coast, but I envy the cruising waters that you have to enjoy in the NW.

Anchor locker drainage in Tom Cats (24 & 255)

After I filled and faired the locker in the "Katie Kat" (I sloped the bottom from the sides to the middle after raising the middle to the drain), it drains fine. Any water that is scooped into the rode locker by the clamshell runs right back out. I used Kitty Hair, and glass cloth to fair and...

On the road... (and the good news is???)

Don't be such a worry wart :D . It never rains in Texas anyway so you won't have to worry about leaks. Do ya'll even have a puddle left over that way to float a 25 foot boat in. Don't ever assume that other boats don't have problems. Compared to my first wife, my Tomcat is priceless. See, its...

Anchor locker drainage in Tom Cats (24 & 255)

He got it from me. When we purchased our Tomcat, I noticed that water would collect in the forward part of the port sponson in rough water. After looking in the rode locker, I noticed that the drain hole was three or so inches up the hull slope and not in the bottom. When the water is forced up...

    Trailering without the boat

I've had to tow car dollies, and other trailers empty before, and I usually deflate the tires so they absorb the road abit. A trailer thats capable of carrying 4000 lbs. + will bounce like a basketball if the tires are full up. A BIG C-clamp can sometimes be used to stop the slide action of...

    Wallas or not?

Da Nag, thankyou for the reply regarding the klean Heat. We've run across a couple of bumps in the road that have restricted our boating, and the long term storage of diesel, has been on my mind. Gordon

    Wallas or not?

Bob, whats the shelf life on this stuff, and have you found it locally? Everytime one of these threads comes up, someone mentions, as do the instructions(I think) something called parafin( the elusive "liquid candle wax"?). I've only lit the wallas on our boat a couple of times, but its worked...

TomCat 24 Hull in 6ft to 8ft seas

Is the GB accident you speak of the one where the capt. lost his life? If so, the story that I read, said that a beam sea threw crew and coolers etc. to one side. A second wave right behind it, got under the sponson and flipped the boat, while all the weight was piled against the gunwale. The...

TomCat 24 Hull in 6ft to 8ft seas

Thataway just recently purchased a new 255. He looked at the Glacier Bay, and the Tomcat. He's posted that the GB was a better riding boat. He and his wife like to cruise, and the Tomcat steals the show with the all weather cabin etc.. If you fish more than you cruise, the GB may be more to your...

    Simpson-Lawrence windlass problem

I second the motion to give them a call. When mine was blowing fuses, I called them on a saturday and told them what was going on, they told me what was wrong, and how to fix it in less than 5 min.

    Simpson-Lawrence windlass problem

Well that shot my idea. Sounds like it may be time for a new Windlass. You'll get some more opinions. Stay tuned. :D

    Simpson-Lawrence windlass problem

Does the Windlass continue to run even though it stops retrieving line? Is the Whatchmajigger that grips the line moving or does it stop when the line stops.?

Port side front window leaks on TomCat

Scrub the area around the window really good, wipe it down after with a little laquer thinner on a cloth(damp not dripping). Mask off the edge of the frame(where the face meets the edge), and mask around the window about 1/16 to 1/8 inch onto the fiberglass. By a tube of 4200 and caulk around...

TomCat 24 Hull in 6ft to 8ft seas

Are 6 to 8 foot seas something you anticipate spending alot of time in, or is this a "what if I accidently got caught in some nasty weather" question? Are you thinking 3 to 4's maybe?

Port side front window leaks on TomCat

Are you talking about the side window on the port side, or the windshield on the port side? Is it leaking in under the frame, or is water that sets in the window after rain or wash, leaking in between the glass and the rubber gasketing that holds the glass?

New Tom Cat owner needs help

Thanks for the Float On phone number Bob. I wandered about on the Majic Tilt site awhile back, and never did see the slicks so I gave it up for a bit. I'm definitely going to move mine forward, and would like to cover the whole bunk. I called and left a message on your cell Sunday. After I hung...

New Tom Cat owner needs help

See if you can locate the manufacturer of Thataway's trailer on the Web, get a phone number and call them. Both our trailers have bunk slicks that are a full 8' or close to it and are wide enough to cover both 2x6's at the same time. I've seen the various choices but have never seen the large...
