    Battle Born battery teardown

For anyone who is curious as to how a Battle Born lithium battery is put together here is a video of someone tearing one apart.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5E30u-66VI If you search a bit more on Youtube you can find a couple of more videos of him tearing down a cheaper Riuxu battery as...

    under-counter refrigerator

Very interesting series of videos of comparison of Sno-Master, ARB, Engel and Waeco fridge/freezers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go1sRObjh-s The gist of it for about a 40 litre fridge they will use about 30 amp hours in 24hrs if you don't open them much. Summary of the results is here...

    Kaboat

Jay, Thanks so much for the info on carrying the Kaboats. If I do choose to change to one it would probably be the 385. Currently we use a 8.5 ft Zodiac at about 65lbs. My wife and I work together most times to lift it to the roof. We also used a 14 ft Soar1 inflatable that I liked but my wife...

    Kaboat

This guy making these videos must be Hunkydory Jay's Scandinavian cousin! :D A very impressive demonstration of the Kaboat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_462woPVMKE It is the size up from Jay's but I don't think most of us would be tackling this kind of water with a boat that doubles as a...

Boater home stops from Nanaimo to Telegraph Cove

North of Campbell River, the view point for Ripple Rock is doable for overnight, north of Sayward junction their is a number of rest areas that will work. I believe there are some between the Ripple Rock view point and Sayward but I can't clearly visualize them. Cheers Ron

    Race to Alaska 2019

Sometimes we might think that the inside passage is really no longer that big a deal to transit in small boats. However at least two of the R2AK participants are super glad to have had Spot Trackers and to have had fellow boaters and the CG to call upon...

    Water maker

Sorry I missed this in your last post. 2 NMPG is probably pretty good for a heavily loaded 25 on plane. We have averaged around 2.5 NMPG in over 12,000 NM of travel in Meander. This is with our 150 Yamaha. Probably a good 4,000 miles of that has been at just over hull speed. Many of us choose to...

    Water maker

Micah, I did find an image that shows the hatch location somewhat Yeah, northers! I didn't really have any experience with northers before the Sea of Cortez. It scared the h.... out of me. The weather forecasts down there are of course nothing like up here, and we ventured out from an...

    Water maker

I don't know if I should mention it because you've probably already figured out how you wan to use the cockpit but.... when we cruised with Meander our CD 25 in the Baja in 2009 on the longer trips of up to 10 days away for our base in Puerto Escondito, we carried 2 5 gal containers of water and...

    Water maker

On our 2006 model year CD 25 the holding tank was in the rear where yours is. I removed it by cutting a hole for a new hatch the same as the port and stb hatches on the face of the motor well. In our case the tank had cracked and was leaking. By removing the tank and now with a third hatch we...

Running outboard when flush port disconnected

Well.... don't know if it was risky or not but I ended up running for more than an hour with the flush port disconnected due to a "senior" moment. This was several hundred hours ago and I haven't seen any noticeable problems. I did not get any engine overheat alarms or notice a temp rise. So I...

    Shuswap Lake Boat Launches

Peter & Judy, The public ramp at Sicamous is one I've used several times. Its right off hiway 1, (you can see it from the bridge) was no charge the last time I used it several years ago and had free parking. Concrete ramps and in June the water should still be pretty high. Cheers Ron

Campbell River Boat Launching and Truck/trailer Parking.

Chuck it is possible to save one ferry and launch around the Pender Harbour/Garden bay area, however I don't know of any secure and/or free parking for a truck and trailer. There is a fenced yard that I see a lot of boats in near Garden Bay but I don't know anything about costs or transport from...

Campbell River Boat Launching and Truck/trailer Parking.

Peter & Judy, Choose to launch in Powell River. Yes you have two ferries, but, by my calculation, combined they are about the cost of the ferry to Nanaimo. The launch in Powell River is very good and there is free parking available at our house and we can pick you up and drop you off at the...

    V-berth dimensions

Harvey I put the fabric side down. I have not noticed any noticeable wear caused by the hypervent. I do think it works better than some of the alternatives because it allows movement of air. And, we probably use the Wallas heaters ( cooker and furnace) more than most. Whenever its damp or...

    V-berth dimensions

Harvey, We have used the hypervent under the v-berth cushions for years. It have worked very well. We have very little condensation in Meander. I also installed v-berth opening port lights which probably help a lot with the air exchange. Cheers Ron
