How often do you run your boat Wide Open Throttle (WOT)?

I'm with Charlie. I run full throttle for a minute or two sometime during each run of the day just to "clean things out" and to observe the performance and RPM and speed attained. Sometimes I do a full throttle start too, just to verify torque at acceleration. All of this after the engine is...

    C-80 system GPS prob

Another thing to check are the plugs in the back of the C-80. The GPS problem you see can be due to the GPS plug not being seated in the socket. Mine looks that way when I run it off of a power supply in the house without the GPS antenna. The radar may be on "standby" which means it is...

    Prop Pitch for BF90 on a 19angler

The final piece of information needed is the speed the boat can attain at full throttle and at what RPM indicated. it is possible that the tach is not reading correctly. My Honda 90 on a 22' cruiser gets about 30 mph at full throttle and about 5900-6000 RPM. My prop is the Honda (Solas) 4...

    Digital Selective Calling

I have mine connected, but have never received a DSC call. I was listening yesterday on my non-DSC portable and did hear the Coast Guard say the DSC distress system here in Port Angeles was triggered by a boat in distress, so I know the system works generally, at least here on the Strait.

    hydraulic fluid

I have the Teleflex Baystar steering. There is a black cap on the helm that unscrews and the fluid is visible once the cap is unscrewed. You'd need a funnel to add fluid. There is a special steering fluid made for the Baystar unit. I don't find any Lexan cover on mine.

    help---valve adjustment on Honda 40

I have always done all of the valve adjustment in all of my motorcycles and cars, but then I didn't own a car with hydraulic valve lifters and a automatic transmission until 1979, and I'd been doing valve adjustments for 15 years at that point. I've done so many adjustments of solid lifters...

    C-Dory Sightings

Saw a C-D 22 with green trim and the full glass door off the east side of Steamboat Island WA this afternoon(Sunday April 29) at 1:00 PM. Twin engines (Suzuki or Merc) and Old Glory flying high. We were pouring a bit of concrete to repair an upper bulkhead without Notayot or we would have...

    BEP twin engine voltage-sensing relays

Sealife, The only switches that should be "ON" in normal service are the "Start" and the "House" switches. The batteries will read identical voltage when the system is being charged, and the red light is showing on the VSR. The "parallel" or "emergency" switch should always be "OFF" unless...

    BEP twin engine voltage-sensing relays

Any fuse or circuit breaker takes time to blow or trip. The higher the current, the less time it usually takes to happen. A bolted fault is simply the fault current that would occur if the positive and negative wires were "bolted" together at the fault location. this is the maximum fault...

    BEP twin engine voltage-sensing relays

On my single engine system the BEP setup does protect the starting battery from house loads. When the voltage falls to the set voltage (around 12.7 volts) on the paralleled batteries, the VSR opens (you can see the red LED go out on the VSR), separating the starting battery from the house...

    BEP twin engine voltage-sensing relays

This is the system EQ Marine installed on our single engine C-D 22 (the Honda provided system made by BEP). The VSR and switches make a very versatile and fool proof system, but I don't know that they help when bolted fault occurs on any part of the system. The VSR is really to control...

Cracks on transom of new CD22!

I had this same "crack" which is actually a mold line. It ran almost all the way along the bottom outside edge of the transom. It was easily fixed at the factory, when they were doing that sort of thing. It had no structural implications.

Raymarine C-series owners, a must read.

I have Sandisk and Fuji CompactFlash cards, but only the Fuji will allow me to update the ROM. The Sandisk works fine for transfering waypoints and routes. Go figure. The update worked perfectly for me, as always.

    windshield wiper motor

My 2006 22' C-Dory has the AFI 1000 wiper motors. The port side one is mounted flush under the windshield frame, but the starboard one is mounted on extension tubes that look to be about 1" or so. This is to allow the motor to clear the window frame while making the shaft exit at the same...
