    CD 22 Cutaway Photos

When you drill through the roof where I have my antennas mounted, it feels like there is a core in there...about 1/4" or so. I don't know if it is balsa or something else. Mike

    CD 22 Cutaway Photos

I have a number of emails from folks, but I'm away for a few days. If I have the photos on this computer, I will email them out. If not, I will send them out Monday or Tuesday. Perhaps they can be uploaded to the tech docs section of the site? Mike

    22 Cruiser vs. 25

We changed from a 30' Searay down to the 22'. I don't regret it. It's a bit tight, but not that tight. Sure you bump into each other in the cabin. But, that's OK. I like bumping into my wife. And there is the back deck, the dock, or other boats when in a raft up when it's just better to be...

    CD 22 Cutaway Photos

You're welcome! They were taken at Cutter Marine. Now that Cutter no longer sells C-Dory, I'm really glad I took those when I did! If anyone wants them, I have high resolution versions I can email. Yup, the boat is built as one solid piece. Kinda prefer it over the traditional stringer...

    VC Performance Epoxy with Teflon

I've often wondered about this paint. With prior boats, I never wanted to experiment because I didn't have a trailer. So far, whatever is on the C-Dory seems to work because I haven't done anything since I bought it...we'll see how this season goes. Mike

    Off topic: $$$$ Diesel $$$$

So, newer diesels get lower milage? Any idea why? When did this change? i'm not a diesel owner, so I'm not up on this. Mike

Cheap shot. The founding fathers site looks interesting. Mike

    self-bailing?

I'm not familiar with the new 22s, but in an older 22, water on cabin floor could be from: 1) A leak up in the anchor locker between the drain hole drilled through the outer hull and the anchor locker. Water can drain down into the foam under the V and out into the cabin. 2) Leaking fitting...

    Cruising speeds and group travel

When cruising with boats that don't run the same speed, the faster boat will often run on ahead and then wait for a bit, repeat. At least that's what I've done or others have done for me. That way all boats can run at their most efficient speed while still traveling as a group. The faster...

    Running Wallas Underway?

The impression I get is that the stove shuts off the pump and then burns the remaining fuel off. So, while my directions say you can shut it down at any setting, it might be faster to use the lowest setting. Might just be a timer, though. I don't know how the stove "knows" when all the fuel...

    tough economic times

This is a general comment targeted to the more right wing flag wavers here, not necessarily those quoted above. When Columbia and I think Guatamala? didn't play nice with the banana growers, we did. It would be hard to send in the Marines into Venezuela. I don't know...maybe not. If we had...

    tough economic times

Thinking that an oil company is anything other than a machine designed to make its shareholders money is entertaining. All public companies bear watching. But an industry that provides the lifeblood of our civilization deserves very close watching indeed. To think that oil companies won't...

    Storing Stern Anchor on CD22

We store the anchor in between the fuel tanks on a CD-22. We keep the rode, which on the Chesapeake does not need to be that long, in a duffle bag. We also keep our 30 amp shore cord in one. The bags keep everything from turning into a tangled mess. Mike

    New 22 cruiser for me?

Chain hook with a piece of line attached to the hook and the end cleated off. On the Chesapeake, you often need a chain hook for pulling the anchor with a windlass because if you have 20' of chain, often times all the line will be in. You can cleat chain, I guess, I've done it. But it...

    New 22 cruiser for me?

Check out the type of battery charger they are going to install and the power panel. Depending on what your needs are later, you might find the small charger they often install to be undersized. Depending on where they install it, you might find installing a larger unit to be difficult, so...

To Fridge or not to Fridge - that is the question

How flexible are the solar panels these days? Could they be put over the dink when it is on top. OTOH, does it even matter? Most times when the dink is on the roof, the engine is running. Mmmm...might have to revisit the whole fridge/cooler thing. Need to change out one of the grp 24 bats...

    Uh Oh!

You are ignoring the excesses of Iraq and the money flowing to a very privileged few. Folks, we are spending mightily to ensure that Iraq oil flows our way or no way and not China. In the end, the SUVs we drive for no reason are what is really going to cost us. Don't let the folks receiving...

    Uh Oh!

When we purchased the C-Dory, efficiency was tops in my mind. It was obvious that $1/gallon was long gone, I still wanted to boat and go places. C-Dory should capitalize on this in a big way, drop the 29 (is it efficient?) and work on the 22 and 25s. Mike
