    Apple I-Pad GPS/Plotter

I use the Navionics app. as a secondary back up to my Garmin. Quality of the display and features is very impressive. -Greg

Good deal on a neat boat

Kenny, My e-mail addy is dene@ipns.com. It's listed by LaConner Yacht Sales. Ask for Art Kaplan. Good man. You can see a ton of updated pictures on yachtworld.com. As for maintenance, it's a done boat. There has been hardly a repair needed in the 2+ years we've had it. If I were in your...

South Sound "on the hard" Storage

I think I found a suitable answer to my question. Pickering Marine will store the boat for $42/mo. If asked, they will launch, retrieve, and flush it for $25, at nearby Latimer's Landing or a launch on the nearby Hood Canal. They will also plug in the block heater as needed. I plan to move...

South Sound "on the hard" Storage

Thanks to this forum, I learned of a nice "one the hard" deal at LaConner marina. They are storing my Devlin for $108/mo. That beats the moorage at Anacortes of $240/mo. Nice thing is that they will launch the boat 5 times a month without a charge. Also, if a freeze is coming, then they will...

Good deal on a neat boat

Thank you for drawing some attention to my fine wessel! I just moved it from Anacortes to LaConner, where it is on "the hard." (more about that in another post). Regrettably, the boat is for sale at 49k and it's in better shape than when I bought it. The only thing it needs is some polish on...

    Cheap cabin heat...Mr. Heater propane?

Whatever is stock in the V-6 Volvo inboard. It seems to be adequate. This is my 3rd season with this setup. I have the boat moored with shorepower. Always hooked up is a battery charger/monitor, therefore the alternator rarely has the task of charging all the batteries. -Greg

    Cheap cabin heat...Mr. Heater propane?

I experimented with all portable heating systems and came up with an inexpensive solution that works perfectly for us. We love winter boating. We installed a 1500 watt inverter with a golf cart batteries to power it. We then use an Optimus no-fan, electric heater with 400 and 800 watt...

    Gulf Islands Recommendations

I have the opportunity to make a 4 night voyage in my 6 knot trawler next week. Monday night will be spent at Sydney. What would you recommend for the next two nights in the Gulf Island region for Tuesday and Weds. night. Thursday, we return to Anacortes. We prefer to dock and hike/explore...

    Susan E for sale

Well I have to admit to being bashful too. Most of the time, the porta potty stays stowed. 90% we use the red porta johnny, then open the window. Generally, we cruise from dock to dock, occasionally anchoring or tying to a mooring ball. I think if we were to anchor exclusively, a private...

    Susan E for sale

Your situation could become familar. As you may recall, we own a 27' Devlin and it's being sold this month. We plan to use our 22' Campion with porta potty or porta johnny as our sole cruising boat. In the summer, on the Columbia. In the Winter, the Sound. Anyway....I wonder how long my...

Official launch date for the Marinaut

Thanks for your reply, Dave. Is there a chance you'll be swinging it on by Anacortes during TrawlerFest, May 20-23. I'll be there, hoping to sell my 27' Devlin. Another question. Are you concerned about the width of the V-berth. I read somewhere that two adults are most comfortable with the...

    Help with upgradeing gps/fishfinder.

Agree...there is no substitute for eyes and ears. I should have pointed out, in my original post, that one should not use a laptop for a primary chartplotter. Size and screen brightness are problems. Therefore, I use mine as a secondary unit, having it on the large chart setting (for...

    Help with upgradeing gps/fishfinder.

I've owned the SH model and don't blame you for wanting another. Personally, I'm happy with the Garmin equivalent in a smaller screen and using a laptop for the bigger picture. I bought an older Nobeltec version complete with charts for $100. Also, I use a Sprint wireless card to stay...

Official launch date for the Marinaut

I'm a little late to this discussion but I do have some input which I hope will be edifying. I own a 21' Campion Explorer with the Alaska Bulkhead, powered by a Volvo I/O. There is much I like about my boat, in particular it's speed, quietness, and handling in the rough seas. However, what I...
