Operational Facility use for CG Auxiliary

My 22' Campion is a facility, based out of Olympia. I do not believe sirens are appropriate nor sanctioned, since our emphasis is on boater safety, not law enforcement. Regarding loud hailers, our Portland division did not sanction them. The idea was that we should get close...

Would you buy a C-Dory on sale?

Matt, I'm curious why the 23' Venture isn't part of the deal? If I were to buy one a C-Dory, that would be the model I'd choose. -Greg

    SeaFair question

Where is a good place to view the Blue Angels from the Sound. I have no interest in going to Lake Washington. Also....I'll be on a Coast Guard Aux. patrol Saturday night and Sunday morning, around the Tacoma area. If you see a white Campion with CG ensign, give me a friendly wave. We will...

    Nordic 32' Trawler

Currently owning both a 27' Devlin trawler and a 22' Campion...with both being near Puget Sound, I prefer the versatility of the latter boat. It can go slow or fast....and get out of the lumpy waters in a hurry. With the trawler, you're stuck with the sea conditions, especially if you are on a...

    Thanks Champ

Funny thing about the steak. George calls for 7 mins. Learned the hard way he was two minutes too long. Will...I'm not in the album because I don't own a CDory. Mine is a Campion 21 footer. It's a similar setup to a CD 22' except I have an I/O. Here in the Puget Sound, there is little...

    Thanks Champ

Roger described my set up perfectly, except that I have more house battery capacity than he implied. Two AGM golf cart battery and a marine deep cycle. I simply isolate the house batteries when using the inverter. Running the engine simply adds some juice to their capacity. Will...the set up...

    Thanks Champ

I've used all kinds of grills and stoves for boating purposes...Weber, butane, and the mounted kind. I have one on my Devlin. But....the easiest, most efficient setup is the $17 George Foreman grill. Just plug it into my 1500w inverter, turn the engine on, and 5 mins. later, a perfectly...

    Moorage in the PNW

I don't remember details but I think LaConner offers the dry storage/launch on demand service too. The rates were very reasonable. If you like Anacortes, you will love LaConner. I had my boat at Cap Sante for a year. I much prefer LaConner.

Has Anyone Seen the Arima SR Explorer 21?

I would fly out and look at four boat lines. CD Venture 23, Marinaut, Arima, and Campion. I doubt if you will go home boatless. :)

    Music devices

I bought a Klipsch Ipod speaker system which easily plugs into any Aux jack. Very pleased with it. Never heard of the brand until I went into a Best Buy and priced the Bose. I asked the sales guy, "What's the 2nd best unit out there?" He whispered "Klipsch" in my ear and I was quickly sold...

    C-Dory right for me?

I'm 6'0" too and now remember that one pilothouse model had a removable floor, allowing for greater head room. Not sure if it's this model. Perhaps Les can weigh in. -Greg

    C-Dory right for me?

The one I'm thinking of is this model... http://www.arimaboats.com/srht21water.htm Pretty sure Les had one at EQ. I remember crawling through it and being impressed with it. -Greg

    C-Dory right for me?

Well said, Peter. I'm curious. What do you and typical CD 22' owners get for fuel economy. I get 3.5 mpg at 25 mph cruise....or 8 gph. I think the former is a better indicator. My engine is a 175 hp Volvo six banger with duo props on a Volvo outdrive. I actually am pleased with the...

    C-Dory right for me?

Good point. My Campion with the I/0 consistently gets 8 gph at 25 mph cruise. (I have a flowscan). With your 40's, you cruise at slower speeds, which wouldn't work very well with a Campion or any deep V hull. Plus....you have an extra engine to get you home. I have Seatow. -Greg

    C-Dory right for me?

I've spent much time in one. I'm part of the Coast Guard Aux. My friend and Ops officer owns a CD 22. We take turns utilizing each others boats on patrols in various seas, so I have first hand knowledge of how each compares. I think his CD Dory is a fine boat. Mine just handles the slop...

    C-Dory right for me?

Lots of good advice here. Here's my take... 1. I would visit Les at EQ Marine and look at his in stock Arima and the Marinaut. 2. I would also visit Puget Marine near Olympia and consider the boat I wish I could buy. A Campion 21' Explorer with fully enclosed cabin, powered by a Suzuki...

    Apple I-Pad GPS/Plotter

Please give us your review...especially how useful it is for us boaters. I'm curious about battery life, screen glare, and whether it's a suitable e-book reader. I've heard some advice that the best time to buy a tablet is six months from now, when there will be a plethora of new tabs (like...
