The 2010 Hunkydory adventures of Jay & Jo-Lee

Hey - regarding the Mokai, I think I'm hooked. I see that they are now using a Subaru motor - do you know anything about them as opposed to the Honda? My wife tells me if we go that way, we would have to get two and not just one! That might be load for a CD22 - maybe we'd have to then get a...

22 Cruiser w/ Twins- prop size?

Matt, I have twin Suzuki 50's. The props are 11 1/2 x 13 The boat was outfitted for running at sea level, but I've only run it on Lake Powell and they seem to give me what I should expect at that altitude.

    Till now, lucky with Wallas...

My Wallas shutdown due to undervoltage recently. I charged up the battery and it still would not start. After looking through the instructions, I found there is a reset switch up under the counter near the front - I'm not near the boat to go check its placement, but there were pretty explicit...

    new dinghy test ride

that's a bargain alright - you guys who live near lots of people have a big advantage finding the deals - I'm stuck buying new and paying retail....that's the price for living in paradise (not).

    new dinghy test ride

Hey! So what kind of dinghy did you get?- I'm shopping for one right now I ordered a 2.5hp Suzuki motor last week. I'm thinking I want an inflatable floor and keel rather than a flat bottom, but I could be swayed....

    Just returned from Yellowstone Lake

That's a wealth of information and answered a lot of the questions we had - thanks, folks. I'm sure we'll make the trip up there this summer. As wonderful as Lake Powell is, it's too hot in the summer and we'd like to see something new.

    Just returned from Yellowstone Lake

Nancy and I would like to try out Yellowstone this summer, but we never know when we can get away until the last minute - I read here where everyone is making "reservations" - a concept I'm not used to. If we were to just show up in late August, are we going to have problems finding a way to...

    Moab here we come.

The best value in town for normal food is the Moab Diner, The best Mexican at the best price is La Hacienda. The very best Italian and at a very fair price is Pasta Jay's (you can easily split meals here - they are huge and good). The real meat and potatoes place is Smitty's. The best...

    Moab here we come.

I don't know what to tell you about the trip 'tween there and here, but once you get here to Moab, there's plenty to see if you can stand the heat. This is about the time of year I stay inside a lot! I'd be happy to recommend sights once you get here - just give me a call (435-259-1178). We'll...

    Honda 2hp vs Suzuki 2.5hp

Anyone have opinions about air cooled (Honda) vs water cooled (Suzuki)? On the surface, it seems the air cooled motor would be less maintenance, lighter, etc. But how does that work on a 100 degree day or if pushing a load at high RPM? I've read most of the past posts on motors for dinghys and...

    surfboard rowing?

Jan and Rick let me try out one of their boards during the Lake Powell gathering in Sept - I came right home and ordered an inflatable board on Amazon. We then tried it out on our Oct Lake Powell trip - it's kind of unstable feeling at first, but 4 of us tried it and all had a great time - it's...

4 great days on Lake Powell

Allan, That's a mighty kind offer. I'll give it lots and lots of thought. She's a mighty good boat. We had no problems with anything on that boat at all, whereas we did experience glitches with the newer boat. To the rest of you who responded - thanks for the links and the thoughts on the...

4 great days on Lake Powell

We just got back last night from 4 great days on Lake Powell. There were hardly any boats on the lake. The water was glass-like (even the main lake), and we had our choice of camp sites. We also took some very nice hikes every day. This was our first trip on the new (used) 22, which I just...

    A simple opinion

I think a logo would be just one more thing to catch something sharp on and have loose threads hanging about. Put the $3 you'll save into something important.....like a beer cooler for that Snoqualmie beer.

    2008 models

OK, I bit the bullet and bought the 2008 - now I've got a 2006 for sale, I think - or maybe we'll keep it for friends to use - gads, that would be a bad idea. Thanks to all for the comments.

    2008 models

That's just what I wanted to hear! I hope you in no way took my question as an insult. It was just something nagging me that I thought I had read. I'll probably be joining you soon as a 2008 owner.

    2008 models

It seems that in past discussions, I recall some complaints about the newer boats - namely the 22's and particularly the 2008's. When I do a search, it gets so many hits I can't really find any of those remarks. Or am I just gettng older than I thought? Any thoughts on 2008 models? I'm...

first time out - low RPM

I think you guys have all nailed it - the engine is a 2006, so guess I'll be setting it up for high altitude. I'll also look into the prop a bit more. I should have thought of it - but my mind was on that gas that might have been sitting there for a very long time. Thanks!
