    Engine needs to make 6000 RPM at WOT. I would go down a inch or two in pitch. Does the oil smell like GAS? Impossible to "make oil" either water(you ruled out) or GAS! If not FP reg. then stuck float/needle in H/P fuel pump tank.

    I have had a DF-175 on my boat since 2012 2700 hrs. zero issues Will buy Suzuki net go around! Up to 5 mpg at 7 knots @ 3000 rpm. 19x15.5 prop 6200 rpm on FLATTTTT water 31 kts. Av 2 Kmpg at 20 knots & 4900 rpm

    White wire that powers the E.C.M. connected to a CLEAN positive batt. post? Fuse in said white wire good? Is the starter cranking the engine until you release the key?

    The mfg. service manual tells when scheduled maint. should be performed. Too tight doesn't allow the valve face to rest on the seat long enough for cooling, resulting in Burnt valves. too loose makes excessive noise, WAY too loose can spit out the shim. :thup :thup :wink: Three thousand hrs...
