    Electric

Depends on the charger. Quality smart chargers can sense what they're connected to (# of cells, voltage etc) and will charge effectively at different levels to promote battery health. Changing from bulk charge to trickle, some will even switch to 'tending' modes where they apply a load or charge...

    Electric

Bonded neutral and ground on the boat. GFI connected to GFI will result in one or the other tripping as well, so even if the neutral/ground bond is removed, if there is a 120v gfi receptacle on the boat and you plug into a home exterior gfi you'll get a trip. Personally, I'd leave the boat...

    Aluminum ... A-dory?

Aluminum in saltwater does well, especially with modern alloys AND correct 'zinc' 5086 is what my weldcraft is built with and I had issues my first two years of ownership. The dealership had done a piss poor installation of the electrical system AND used incorrect anodes (magnesium). I tried...

    WTB a cdory 😭

I’d seen a couple of those photos on other websites. Managed to find the original post from 2015 and see the rest. Unfortunately the video is blocked in Canada for some reason. Anyone have the video hosted elsewhere other than youtube? Thanks for bringing it up as thats exactly the type of...

    Must have modifications

Thanks for the input of Solas props. I’ve wanted to try them. I know with my current boat, going to a 4 blade aluminum prop made such a huge difference for me. Lost a couple mph off the top but gained in the mid range even when loaded which is perfect. If I could change one thing with the rebel...

    WTB a cdory 😭

Thanks Bauer. Its good reading experienced accounts of what these boats can handle with the right knowledge at the helm. Everyone makes videos of cdory’s in calm or light chop and I get a lot of nay-sayers trying to talk me out of owning one. Especially salespeople lol And of course, avoidance...

    Must have modifications

As to amazon purchases, I’ve units in mind already that I’ve used for other purposes so confident in their use. Especially for cooking and heating. That wallace stove is simply too much money and I don’t want it built in. I thought the venture 26 came with a microwave.. might be a dealer...

    Must have modifications

Good call on the ABYC standards regarding fuel tank openings at the top. Other ways to transfer fuel anyway if needed. I actually didnt know of there was a difference regarding diesel/gas tanks. Will run rancor fuel filters at any rate for water.

    Aluminum ... A-dory?

Thanks all. I’ve been in a number of aluminum boats of various design. I just thought a close match welded aluminum ‘c-dory’ would be rather cool. Already have the name chosen … Eh! Dory (Canadian, aluminum, dory, it works) Had a look st the skiffs, might mull that over some more but I’m...

    Aluminum ... A-dory?

Certainly appreciate the feedback regarding Kingfisher. I have been looking at them but the cdory has more appeal. My daughter, our youngest at the wise age of 16, thinks the bigger aluminum boats the equivalent of lifted trucks with bull sacks dangling from the hitch. That said theres a used...

    WTB a cdory 😭

But I can't afford to yet lol What I'm looking for currently however is Vancouver Island owners. Would love to pay for a ride along. I'm in Port Alberni, not into ass or grass but have cash if somebody needs a fishing buddy for a day. Would REALLY appreciate experienced feedback in cdory...

    Must have modifications

Wondering what people consider must do modifications to cdories. Intended use being extended cruising/fishing. 2 adults, I'm 6'3 300lbs and she's 5'6 and 140. Occasional day use, 4 adults. Want to do at least several day long trips, don't think I'm ready to circumnavigate the island like some...

    Aluminum ... A-dory?

Been dreaming of a c-dory for quite some time. Currently own a weldcraft rebel 188. I fish out of Port Alberni, BC on the west coast of Van Isle. Anyway I'd like to be into a 26 venture but it got me thinking, a welded aluminum c-dory. Anyone know of a manufacture doing something similar? I...
