Looking For What Boat I Need

I chose the c-dory because of its weight and draft mostly. I wanted something I could easily tow anywhere with nearly anything, and not knowing how much cruising I was going to do I wanted fuel economy just in case. it was a smart move as we visit probably 6-10 different launches per season and...

Raise or lower your motors in salt

is this utilizing a water connection/hose/muffs dockside? I'm curious of the process of doing a freshwater flush when still on the water. motor is down during this process?

Raise or lower your motors in salt

Can I build up on Terry's question? is the verdict the same for a boat that is not moored but spending say a week on a trip? I am always torn when I'm on a three-four day trip on whether I should pull the motors on overnight marina stays. I always flush the motors thoroughly the day I pull the...

boat storage for next 2 months?

just going to second this. when my dad sold his Lund (which was more than my CD) it sold very quick through a broker and he got i think $5k more than what I think he could have expected going FSBO. sad he sold that boat, but it spurred me to get my own C-dory ;)

    Brake Stutter

It actually does sit pretty level. the cummins just happens to have a drop hitch which sits a bit lower. we towed all last year with the cherokee and had no problems at all, its been a recent occurrence that started increasing. after getting the brakes adjusted/seals/bearings I took it on two...

    Brake Stutter

I have a hemi, its rated at over 7,000lbs tow capacity and we've been towing with it for about a year and a half with no problems at all. It actually is a much more comfortable tow than the 3/4 ton. Our Cherokee is a 2005 Hemi, and I always assumed the CD to be closer to 4500lbs fully loaded, I...

    c-brat burgees pics

Funny you mention that. i have had to take my fishing rods out of the rocket launchers when sleeping at night because they sure make a lot of noise when the wind comes through (mostly flashers).

    Brake Stutter

interestingly enough, the hitch does sit higher on the Cherokee than the Cummins, but the mechanic I had do the bearings/seals etc said it sat well on the Cherokee (hitch height was his concern too before he saw). He of course had plenty to say about how the jeep was incapable of towing such a...

Who has their burgees flying? feel bad for forgetting mine last weekend in the SJ's. We will have it up August 8-11th when we visit Sucia, West Beach, Jones, and FH again.

    Brake Stutter

Today the trailer got new bearings, new seals, brake adjustment and bled again just in case. it appears to be towing fantastic again. just a few miles so far but we have a long trip coming up in a week or two so that will be the good test. I think we've narrowed down the culprit to just...

    Holy Day of Obligation

every time I take someone crabbing on my boat I swear its the last time I'll do it. The only place I've had my pots robbed (twice now) is in the san juans, but everywhere I go it just makes a colossal mess. never seems worth the effort to clutter up the boat with pots to go out, then get...

    Historical Weather Look Up?

Is there a site that allows me to see what the weather WAS or at least what it was forecasted as previously? http://classic.wunderground.com/MAR/PZ/133.html for instance, that link shows today, but I'd love to open up the NOAA information for waves/tides/weather from say July 19th if i could...

    Breakers!

that same though crossed my mind recently in rougher waters. there are some sexier v hulls that I really like, but I question what they would be like in some of the things I've encountered with the c-dory and I avidly seek milder conditions as it is.

    Can a C-Dory handle it?

These boats can undoubtedly handle more than I want to try. Every time I'm in a marina guys come up and want to talk about how rough of seas the c-dory can handle and I always tell them its the skipper, not the boat, that I'm worried about.
