    All we need....IDA

Warren currently it's cloudy in Jax with no rain. We did get a little last night and some high winds but that passed. Seas are 4 to 6 and we've been experiencing flood tides which are typical for this time of year. If you need anything while in Jax give me a call at 904-219-2675. I expect you...

Rode: 3 Strand vs 8 Plait Brait

I had a similiar problem when my rode was new. Following the boards advice (probably Bob's) I soaked my rode in a 5 gallon bucket of diluted fabric softner and it made a pretty significant difference. I now try to do it about every six months.

I like a bar you can bring your dog

Thanks for the tip I've wanted to make a trip up that way to Georgetown for years. The Crab Shack Resturant and Bar on the Saint John's just north of Palatka on 6 Mile Creek is also Dog friendly in a outside eating and drinking area. They also have a free dock for overnighters but no water or...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Took the C-FLE II to the mouth of the Saint Johns today to watch the Blue Angels air show. It was a beautiful day but seas were about 4' with about a 15 mph east wind making it a little to rough to go outside comfortably so we anchored up in the river and watched from about 2 miles away. All I...

Cobb Grill vs Magma Catalina or Newport Grill

One little trick I've learned with my Cobb is to put 10 or 12 brickets plus lighter sticks in a vacuum bag and seal it without vacuum. I prepare several of these depending on how long or many times I intend to use the Cobb. It keeps the charcoal dry and the mess inside the bag.

C-Dory Factory Questions for the Group

Scott the flat floor in the cockpit on 22's is nice as was offered in 07 and up models but there's a discussion on here about water getting under it from poorly sealed deck to cabin bulkhead joint. A few have drilled drain holes and inspection plates in the floor. The drain hole is really hard...

    97 Ford F-250 Powerstroke Problem

I've got a 96 Powerstroke and the only problem I've had in 169,000 miles is transmissons I'm on my third ford factory rebuilt. They seem to go out right after the two year warranty expires. Thanks for the tip on the cam shaft sensor I'll have to check to see if the recall applies to 96 model.

    Help! Mold! Now what?

The bilge pumps are usually wired directly to the battery with and in-line fuse within 7 inches of the battery so if you really want to turn them off remove the fuse.

C-Dory Factory Questions for the Group

While I don't know if this is fact or not but it would seem to me that the molded interior would make for a lot stiffer quieter hull. Both my C-Dory's were molded and I had no trouble making interior mods (pics in album) actually I found it easier being able to tab in supports than screwing to...

C-Dory Factory Questions for the Group

I have the molded interior and I'm happy with it. One of the problems I remember some speaking of with the wood interior was the L-brackets used to hold it in place no being properly sealed where screwed into the core and in some cases cheap non stainless brackets were used.

Etec fumes??? - Honda ?? repower for 22

Last year I was stopped by Marine Patrol for a safety check on the lower Saint Johns River. The Marine Patrol was in a Boston Whaler with what I think was a 115 E-Tec. He rafted up to us and let his engine idle while conducting the check the fumes were so bad I was sick for the rest of the day (...

    The Racoon and the clam

Racoon apparently freed himself. I checked on him this morning and he was gone so I guess the clam opened up. The photo of the gator was taken last Feb. when I made a trip to Sanabel. The turtles are still there at Indiantown plus there was a manatee that swam all around the gator so I don't...

    The Racoon and the clam

I wouldn't worry to much about the racoons bothering Mr Grey they come up on my porch and eat with my 3 outside cats but the picture below is the security guard at the Indiantown Marina on the Okeechobee Canal. He was about 40' from my slip.

    The Racoon and the clam

Yeah the clam will eventually die in a few days and open but what you really can't tell in the picture is he's in a tidal marsh and at high tide there's about two feet of water where he was trapped. I did manage to drag him to drier land but he didn't seem to appreciate my help. He was thrashing...

    The Racoon and the clam

I thought about that but was afraid it might hurt his foot. My daughter was so distressed about poor Mr Coon I tried to free him by fashioning a snare out of some 3/4 pvc and 1/4 rope. I learned Coons don't like to be snared and can bite right through a pair of welding gloves. Fortunately he...

    The Racoon and the clam

I walked out on my dock this morning to empty my crab traps (had 19 plus 2 soft shells) and on the way back in I noticed a racoon about four foot from the dock in the marsh grass. This isn't unusual but this time he didn't move just stared at me. My first thought was rabid racoon and I went to...
