    Electric shock drowning

You know come to think of it I wonder why they don't use isolation transformers at Marinas? I've installed these system in explosive environments the systems aren't grounded so you have no relationship to ground between the hot lead and ground.

    Electric shock drowning

This is a sad story but like someone said the father really went to great lengths to get the codes changed to protect others. Without putting much thought into it it seems like some sort of a grid affair could be installed and create a voltage alarm system at marinas. Maybe something to think...

NEW type Rule Mate Auto bilge pumps

This is what concerns me which water are they talking about salt, fresh, cold, sandy, muddy, bloody I think all these factors effect dielectric constant. I'm anxious to see a report back on how they work. While the older models weren't that reliable in my book you could take them apart and clean...

NEW type Rule Mate Auto bilge pumps

Yes and I hope the newer ones are more reliable than the current model. I have a feeling from reading the literature that the new ones will be more troublesome. I think the current model if I remember correctly comes on with about 1 1/4" of water and pumps down to about 1/4".

    Advice Needed

Have you heard it run? If it has set up for 3+ years I'll bet the high pressure fuel pump will need attention. I've got a 2003 Merc 50 and when it sets up very long the pump locks up and they run about $350 if you have to replace it. If the fuel was run out of it before storing you may be okay.

    Engine Overheating

Mine is 07 Suzuki 90. I don't know if the anodes were the problem but it hasn't done it since I changed them an cleaned the salt out from the cavity they are in. There are four anodes on the port side of the engine. Two in the block and two in the head and very easy to replace. Mine acted...

    Engine Overheating

Hi Tad, I had a similiar problem a couple times with my Suzuki and started checking what I knew to check and in my service manual I found that the head has internal anodes in it. I pulled the cover just two bolts looks sort of like a thermostat cover and the anode was about 1/2 rotted away and...

    The right motor for a c-dory 22

I don't understand some saying cruising at higher speeds results in pounding on all but glass like conditions? I typically cruise slow but at times when I want to get somewhere in a hurry I reguarly cruise at 22 to 25 mph without any pounding in less than glass conditions usually a foot or less...

    Locking Through Canals ... Solo

Judging from your location if you are talking about the Locks on the Okeechobee Canal I've locked thru all of them single handed several times except the far east one. I tried it with a line from the bow cleat back to the cockpit entering the lock as slow as possible fenders in place grab a...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Went out for about two hours this morning and caught 4 nice trout and 2 blue fish (for the smoker). When I got back to the dock I pulled the crab trap and there were about 15 crabs in it and shrimp scattered everywhere. Going back in a few minutes to harvest some shrimp. Life is good and weather...

    The right motor for a c-dory 22

I'm content with my Suzuki 90 but my boat is heavily loaded and with full tanks and four aboard it's a little sluggish. If I were to repower I'd got either with a 115 or maybe the new lighter Suzuki 90.

How long with no bottom paint

I don't think the PNW waters being colder are as bad as down here in the south for barnacle growth. I know for me without bottom paint on a 12 day trip up the ICW all in salt water I had small barnacles slightly smaller than a BB forming. I did spend about 6 of the days anchored up. Fortunately...

    portable refrigerator 12V DC/110V AC

Not really as portable as what Jim uses but I have a Waeco 35 built into a sliding shelf in my boat. What I like about it is it has a thermostat and can be used as either a fridge or freezer. They are sort of pricey but I really like mine. They make smaller models also and a setting that turns...

    Buddy's boat

Thanks Marc I new someone out there in Pilothouse land could identify it. He claims it runs in 4 foot seas without pounding at 22 mph. I guess it has quite a bit of dead rise. He bought it about a month after seeing my C-Dory when he was in town last year for Christmas.

    Buddy's boat

A young friend of mine moved his family to Kenai Alaska several years ago. He does a lot of fishing and hunting while working mostly on pipeline related stuff. If you run across him say hello from me. His name is Steve and you'll easily recognize him he's 6'9" and a great young man with wife and...
