    Bent bow eye?

I couldn't buy a new U-bolt for the bow eye here, so I took the bent one to a mechanic who beat it straight for me. He said he has replaced a lot of them and confirmed that a good bounce on the trailer will bend one.

    I finally have my C-Dory!

So, I changed the fuel filter cartridge and put Sta-Bil Marine 360 in the fuel tanks. We had the boat out all afternoon yesterday with no fuel problems. :-) Trim tabs are working slick since I filled the ATF tank. I angled the transducer tail slightly up rather than slightly down, but I...

    Bent bow eye?

I brought our new C-dory home yesterday and noticed the bow eye is bent to one side. I am totally baffled... I know I haven't hit anything! The only thing I can think of is I haven't gotten the boat snug to the roller on the trailer winch post because the bow pulls away when the stern settles...

    I finally have my C-Dory!

I found the HPU wasn't difficult to remove. Just four screws to remove the mounting bracket, and out it came. The ATF reservoir was almost empty. I filled it and now the trim tabs work. :-) Fire extinguisher is now mounted with a First Alert Bracket 2 on the wall between the windows on the port...

    I finally have my C-Dory!

At long last we took the new old boat for a maiden voyage. We started in calm weather, came back in 2-3 foot seas, pretty calm for Kachemak Bay. It rode well, very comfortable for two people. Sit-down driving feels strange. I stood to drive our prior dory. Gliches along the way : After an...

    16 vs 19 vs 22

I am very new to the C-dory game. Our 2005 22 Cruiser had its maiden voyage today, fresh up from Washington to Alaska. AS for towing, our Toyota Tundra has plenty of power for the 22. I hardly feel the extra weight even on steep hills. It's long on the trailer, less maneuverable than I expected...

    Good place for fire extinguisher?

Good point about CO2. I have heard of larger boats having to replace all their electronics due to corrosive extinguisher powder.

    Good place for fire extinguisher?

Where is an accessible, out-of-the-way place to mount the fire extinguisher in a 22 Cruiser? I'm thinking left of the knees by the passenger seat.

    Stuck window

I got them opened after the sun went down last night. I was trying to see where they stick. Either the sharp edge of the rubber seal stuck in the window track or the fuzzy seal where the back of the window meets the vertical frame? It's hard to tell. It's just the last little bit when the...

    Good inflatable dinghy?

On an impulse moment, I ordered the Intek 3-person raft with no motor. I hope it rows well enough to be useful. I will try it in the local reservoir before I brave the ocean.

    Stuck window

Does anyone have a solution for sticky sliding windows in the 22 Cruiser? I couldn't get the driver's window open when I brought my boat up from Seattle, but I finally got it opened after a rainy night. It stuck again, but opened on a dewy morning. The passenger side also sticks, but not as...

    Visibility off Port Bow

If you want a camera, you could look at automotive back-up cameras. That would give you a big screen, sharp image and you could wire it from the boat's 12V system.

    Good inflatable dinghy?

I'm not thinking life raft nor ocean sailer. I just want to commute to shore where I don't want the C-Dory to go dry, e.g. too many rocks. In small bays and fjords on the south side of Kachemak Bay. There could be wind, but not big waves and if it's too windy, I can wait. I'm hoping not to...

    Good inflatable dinghy?

Years ago when I worked for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, we picked up a guy on a jet ski about 25 miles offshore in lower Cook Inlet. His motor had quit, end of party.

    Good inflatable dinghy?

I was looking at the Sea Eagle kayaks. How are they for stability when you climb off the C-Dory to get in.

    Good inflatable dinghy?

Whoa! You can put a sail on it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCF10kga7nY Brings back memories of the time I put a sail on my Klepper kayak and a sudden gust of wind turned it over in the middle of Seldovia Bay. I had to sit on the overturned kayak and paddle it upside-down to shore. Tales...

    Good inflatable dinghy?

Thanks for the detailed report! I had in mind to use it for ship-to-shore in side bays around Kachemak Bay, Alaska, where there could be wind but not likely big waves. Sound plausible? I wonder if you could get the little electric motor and make a 12V lithium ion pack to avoid the heavy...

    Good inflatable dinghy?

Any thoughts on this one? https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Mariner-4- ... 06-20&th=1 Reviews say it's durable, has inflatable keel, comes in three- and four-person sizes - 9'9"x 4'2", 77 lbs or 10'9"x 4'9", 91 lbs

    Good inflatable dinghy?

The davit looks slick, Thataway! It looks like you have put an impressive amount of work into your C-Dory. It's a sharp boat! Thanks all for the input! I'm still pondering. My original idea was to just run it up on the beach and let it go dry, but now I'm pondering the scrapes to the bottom...

    Resealing required?

Holes filled with System 3 epoxy plus silica thickener. New Stern Pad is glued to transom... the epoxy should be cured tomorrow. Then I can mount the transducer and run the cable to the dash and see if the while thing floats.
