    Battery Wiring Advise

I'm back with an update to my wiring upgrade project. After reading the posts whom all replied and doing some research, I think I finally have a wiring schematic that will work for me. Again, I wish all those who can spare the time to look over this wiring diagram and see if it looks correct...

    re-installing into solid glass

Thanks for all the suggestions. I agree that the backing likely needs to be stiffened as I noticed some of the bolts were loose. The treads are working there way into the glass, likely due to vibration. I'll put the butyl tape on the back side of the hardware after I reseal the holes.

    re-installing into solid glass

I just pulled my rod holders off the forward face of the splashwell to clean and check for damaged core. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the holes are drilled through solid glass. Is there any technique to putting things back? Should you epoxy seal the edge of the holes before...

    Battery Wiring Advise

I was wondering if one could do this. Is it as simple as a ring connector on the battery switch post/nut? In this BEP cluster, presumably one could switch the start battery off and send all charging power through the switch to just the house battery. This may be beneficial if you knew the...

    Battery Wiring Advise

Jody, I been looking at the BEP model you indicated and that does seem like a great option for me. It too provides both battery isolation as Dr. Bob indicated as well as electronic protection from starting spikes. I also like that the DVSP can be switched so as to provide no load during...

    Battery Wiring Advise

Aurelia, Thanks for your thoughts. I had no idea that was even an option. So as I understand you, one can wire the motor to a start battery with an on/off isolation switch and then wire a "Sterling system" to your house bank. Run everything from your house bank and while underway the engine...

    Battery Wiring Advise

Hello fellow Brats, I am upgrading my battery system from a single to dual battery (starting and house). Currently, I have a rather simple system consisting of the usual stuff lights, wipers, bilge pump, VHF, GPS, Radar and a Toyo cabin heater. I want to add a charger to maintain batteries...

    C-Dory with extended roof

Wow! I love this site. This is exactly what I have in mind for my boat as well. I am so glad others have done this and seem pleased with the results. I would love to here how the Thule rack idea for kayaks worked. Great work. Grazer

    Cutting fiberglass holes

I have noticed, looking quite closely, at some of the fasteners around my boat, that there appears to be some small hairline stress cracks in the gel coat. Is this a concern I should address? If so how would one go about it? Thanks, Grazer

    Deck core moisture and rot

Let me see if I understand you correctly Bob. You would cut thin (3/4" wide) strips of glass cloth, and epoxy (glue) in place. Does this mean adhering fiberglass stripes on edge to both the top and bottom laminates including the filled in cored portion of the hatch opening? It will likely be...

    Deck core moisture and rot

Well I am finally getting around to filling in the deck core that was removed around the lazarettes covers. I have purchased 2 of the imtra hatch covers indicated in Dr. Austin's project above (nice work by the way). It seems they are very close to the edge of the existing hole and may not...

    Sunbeam ~ C-Dory 22 Cruiser

Wow! I didn't realize the conversation that would be sparked, and now I am as confused as well. Perhaps someone can best point me in a setup so I can upgrade my system. I currently have a single deep cycle lead acid group 24 battery. I would like to install more capacity in the form of a...

    Sunbeam ~ C-Dory 22 Cruiser

Sunbeam, Next to your backing for the vent is a bus bar terminal, which appears to be attached with weldmount (Good idea). I am doing some electrical upgrades and want to clean up all the extraneous wires going to the battery. Would I wire in a buss and have the electronics go to that rather...

Water leak in hull- forces winter projects: advice needed

Sunbeam, What about a product like Dow Corning's SILICONE BE GONE (Silicone Seal Remover) to remove that stuborn residue? I've never used it, but the product overview states it will: •Soften old silicone in 2 hours •Easy to use •Won't harm other surfaces or finishes •Non-offensive odour •Will...
