    Inside Passage Fuel Logs

Sorry, the limit was three attachments. Here is the 2002 spreadsheet. 3 gallons per hour and about three NM per gallon seems to be the rule on my boat. Shawn

    Inside Passage Fuel Logs

Attached, the Fuel Logs from the past four years of Inside Passage Cruising on the CD 22 - Tonie O. I had some time to put them in an Excel spreadsheet and thought I'd share since I get so much from this site! The 2005 trip had the most trolling hours and was the most leisurely while the 2004...

    couple of outboard questions

Hello, I'm a "flusher" too, but mainly out of fear of my lower unit corroding. I have twin forties and I've overheard folks pausing their walks to see if I'll fall in while attaching the ears. Is there an easier way on BF-40's? I've not fallen in yet, and my technique is good, but if this is...

    King Crab

Hello Larry H, I had heard those rumors on my first trip in 2001. The numbered markers are on the chart and placed by the Coast Guard. The area called the "Summit" is said to be dredged and was the reason the pass was not used years back (locals say). Again, I found it well marked and safe...

    King Crab

Hello, I get to the web site by typing "Tonie O" into Google. It is on AOL so sometimes they change the URL but Tonie has it linked so that the site comes up first using google. We tried updating as we go but often are out of computer range so we keep our log and do most of the update upon...

    King Crab

Hello J&J - Rock C, I'll tell Tonie that you liked her web work, she sometimes wonders if it is worth her while. Inside Passage 4 is on the slate for this summer. Tonie says its time to go around Prince of Whales Island and I think that we can make a summer out of it. If the stars and...

    King Crab

Hello, Just outside of Auke Bay, there is a productive shelf. No secret here and you'll see lots of traps and Buoys. I saw a trap of 12 come up but its competitive among the locals. Hoohan and the sound beyond the town. Teenakee Inlet, deep during the summer but there are king crabs in both...

    C-Dory Competitors

Of course I'm biased, however, three boats that I thought were in the ballpark are: Seasports - These boats even look like ours. Popular in the northwest and still trailerable. Farallons - More of a deep V, but spartan fishing machines with full cabins. Davis - Radon Hull designs that...

    Wallas Fuel Choice

When I buy # 1 Diesel (rather than #2 Diesel) from the fuel docks in Southeast AK is that Kersosene? They call it stove fuel or #1 Diesel. I was told that it is sometimes straight aviation fuel (Wrangell fuel dock)? Here in Santa Cruz we buy K1 or Kerosene. Scan says go ahead and use Diesel...

    Proper Drain Plug Techniques...

Always from the inside. We upgraded to the floorboards so that we can rinse the cockpit by pulling the plug while running. After a good fishing day we rinse the cockpit with buckets of water to let the scales and stuff drain out of the boat.

    Extra Radar Cable

It can be done and I did it once which doomed me to moving the dome and needing a longer wire. After burnt fingers and new trifocals I swore never again. I rolled up the cable and stashed it on the self. Shawn

    That white marine construction stuff

I buy my white plastic stuff from TAP plastics. These guys know about all the stuff that you discuss (I know little). I like them because they will cut to order on the spot or by phone order. They have some shops in the Northwest as well. Type TAP plastics in a search engine or try this...

    new boat soon...

Great discussion! I've "lost' an engine three times and it always been about 25 miles away from port. Once a shift cable snapped and I could not get it into nuetral to restart the engine so the starboard leg got me home at about 7 or 8 knots per hour from albacore fishing. Coming down the...
