I just posted a test inReach message from Green River. We decided to stop for the night and launch tomorrow morning. Roads were all fine, though it was a long drive! :)

Lake Powell - last minute suggestion

We made it to Boise ID, tonight. I84 was good the whole way from the coast to Boise. Much less traffic and better weather than I5! Glad we did not try I90...

Lake Powell - last minute suggestion

We decided to take I84 as the road conditions on I90 were not enticing. Rain is better than snow for driving!

    Ethanol gas and Yamaha 50

Thanks all. I will not worry overly for the short term and make sure I run the fuel through and then fill up with ethanol free when I get home. There are a couple of local gas stations in Victoria which sell "marked mid grade fuel" which I think is ethanol free and cheaper due to taxation rules.

    Ethanol gas and Yamaha 50

I have 2 2012 Y50s on my CD22 and wondered if there were any issues with using ethanol-containing gas. If so, any suggestions on how to get good gas before launching at Bullfrog UT on Lake Powell.

Lake Powell - last minute suggestion

Monica and I are heading to Lake Powell - planning to launch at Bullfrog next Friday or so and spending about a week cruising the lake. If anyone has suggestions on places not to miss, things to look out for, warning etc, that would be much appreciated! Mike

Thanks Pat and Casey, I think the Navionics app on my phone and tablet will do the trick. I will use the Lowrance for depth sounding and other info.

    Charts for Lake Powell

My 4 year old Lowrance HDS8 does not have charting for Lake Powell (I think only Canada...) and I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for charting that can be installed in the chartplotter. I have found a couple of apps for iOS, Android and Windows 10, but am wondering what I can easily...

    SleepyC on Vancouver Island 2016

I would be interested in the steps as I might end up doing it in my driveway... [ quote="Robert H. Wilkinson"] There is a way to pull boats off a trailer, building up cribbing under each corner of transom and a third fore and centered on keel. I have done it a number of times with smaller...

    SleepyC on Vancouver Island 2016

Peter, did you get it done professionally? I am curious to know what stages of painting etc were required as I am thinking of having the same done to Natural C-lection.

    SleepyC on Vancouver Island 2016

Thanks for that clear description. I will have to look at doing that for Natural C-lection. Maybe in the spring.

    SleepyC on Vancouver Island 2016

Richard, I'd be interested to hear how you did your bottom coat application. Did you do it yourself? How did you manage to get the boat off the trailer etc. I am seriously considering getting mine coated. It sounds like you had a good few years of use before needing a recoat...

Hot Springs Cove/Tofino/Vancouver Island West Coast

I usually launch at the ramp by the public harbour/wharf on 4th street. I have parked my trailer there as well, though it costs a bit. Parking anywhere around Tofino in the summer can be a challenge.

Great report, Harvey. I love that area and would definitely go back again. I too am wondering about bottom paint. Have you been able to get all the growth off?
