    A question on bottom paint-

It all depends on the boats mission. If you put the boat in the water for every trip than bottom paint wouldnt mattter. I keep my boat in the water most of the time so I had to apply 4 ( or was it 5) coats of barrier before applying 4 coats of HydraCoat ( 2 blue, 2 black) bottom paint. When...

    Raymarine S1000 settings

I just got back from a trip on the ICW between Charleston and Georgetown SC. It would track a course straight enough, but sometimes when adjusting heading to starboard, it would just keep turning right and I had to take it offline. I tried half a dozen times to run the "Autolearn" process but...

Moves you don't want to make in your C-Dory

If your careless like I was and got inside of the surf line on a beach you could get in trouble. I posted the story some time back but I got fixated on something on the beach and got caught by a beam breaking sea. The boat tilted 45 degrees or so and surfed sideways on to the beach. I was...

    Is CDory too light??

I spent last night on my CD22 up a creek off the intercoastal waterway. A cold front passed though at 8pm or so and just loved hearing the wind whistling at 35 knots with temps in the 40's. Cooked a great meal and was toasty with the wallace. In the morning I crossed Ossabaw sound with the...

    Bahamas (Bimini) 2008

Ok, skip the pm. Im glad you posted because I would really like to do this with you. I assume you will be coming down I-95 and we can hook up around Savannah ans head south together. What I dont want to do is go to Miami and wait for a weather window, so we will have to be watching the...

Back Up Bilge Pump for CD22

Fellow Brats, I need some advice on adding a bilge pump. I have a 22 with molded in floor. The main bilge pump sits in its well, but leaves water after its run cycle. This standing water spills over the well into the other flat recessed area where my house battery sits. This water can...

    Bahamas (Bimini) 2008

I would think its all about being flexible and having a weather window. Not only going, but coming back. So a solid 3 day window of calm weather would be the overriding criteria for me. I think that may only present itself in late May early June.

    Bahamas (Bimini) 2008

I might be interested. I'm near Savannah. Been wanting to make the trip across the stream, but I was thinking about going to West End. Send me a pm at Bill3558@yahoo and lets kick it around.

Thank you Wefing's - once again!

Thats awesome. Customer service like that is getting hard to find. Especially if they aren't getting paid for it. Bought my boat from Wefings too, and I'm 500 miles away. No regrets, they are good folks.

    Transducer Paint

I had the same problem using the "transducer paint". Found it totally ineffective, so I just slapped on a bunch of my regular bottom paint. Which by the way is HydraCoat. Stuff is easy to apply cause its water based and I found it works great on the hull and transducer, even my trim plates...

    Pluto The Passage Maker

Dear Fellow Brats, Just returned from cruising the outer banks of North Carolina in my CD22. It was the first real voyage of any distance with the wife and dog. I was a bit worried how it would work out in such a small boat, but we had a ball! Trailered the boat to Oriental, NC spent the...

Portable TV/DVD Player for the Boat

Thanks you brats for the idea of using a laptop as a tv. I went to Circuit City today and got a Hauppauge USB TV tuner for $68. It picks up analog, digital and HD channels. You can also attach a cable input. Perfect solution, no remote control to get lost, its all on screen. Only problem...

Portable TV/DVD Player for the Boat

Can anyone recommend a small 7or 8 inch combo TV and DVD player? Its odd, I have searched online and in stores and cant find one. They used to be available, but apparently not any more. It doesnt matter if its 115 volt or 12. Thanks for any info. Bill and Beth "Pluto"

Seating solution for a family of 5?

Thats odd. My wife loves the boat because it gives her a sense of security. We have been in some bad weather with steep seas and shes fine, in fact enjoys it. She never, ever said that when I owned my 25 foot sailboat or 19 foot center console. She would rarely go with me at all. Now on...
