    Towing for Mileage

I've heard that one of the best techniques for saving gas is to drive as if you have no brakes. Among other things this means letting off the gas well in advance of having to stop and not following other vehicles too closely. Just my 2 cents.

Will-C, Thanks a bunch. That's alot of good info. I'm heading to the Keys at the end of January.

    Fla Keys in January

D.D. that's a lot of good advice. Thanks! I plan on cruising around the Keys in late January early Feb. I'm concerned that it will be cold but I hope to be able to say, "Its a lot colder in Virginia." I'm wondering if there are any fish to be caught down there in the middle of winter? I've...

    Freeze damage

Thanks for the posts, everybody. Live and learn. Or better yet, just listen to the advice given right here. A mild winter is on my Christmas list. 8)

    Freeze damage

In response to the recent topic, "Will water system freeze..." and others that discuss winterization strategies it would be helpful to me to know what actual damage fellow C-Brats have had due to insufficient/failed precautions or excessive and sometimes unpredictable drops in temperature...

Newbie Fisherman Wannabe Here Looking for Gear Advice

Sir, Maybe we are not as friendly back East or maybe there just aren't as many C-Dorys. What I'm saying is, if you can find friends or make friends to go fishing with, probably nothing could be better. From a guy who finds it difficult to come across friends who will take him fishing...

    removing the plug...

I like leaving the plug out. When I used to leave the plug in I was surprised how much water accumulated even with the cover on after rain showers. Now I keep the plug and the wrench on the front console of my tow vehicle. Its so satisfying to see the last drops of water leaving the hull with...

    What's in YOUR toolbox?

Prop wrench and spare prop. I probably missed these in there somewhere but since I just put these on my boat about an hour ago I'll mention them. Great thread! It feels good to be prepared. :thup

New C-Dory purchase, meaning a new Triton...

When I started looking for a C-Dory about a year ago I couldn't believe the easiest dealer for me to get to would be in North Carolina. But I made the trip, 7 hours there and 7 hours back, two times and I am glad I did! Just got the boat home a few days ago. Gene and Carrie at Mobile East...

    09/24 - 09/26 - North Carolina, 4th Annual

Thank you, Tracy and Larry. We had a great time, saw lots of neat boats and met a lot of nice people. Cindy was still talking about C-Dory's on the trip home. Ron and Linda, thanks for the tour of USMC-Dory, a great boat.

    New 25 Cruiser under construction

Thought some of you might be interested in photos of the construction process currently underway in Bellingham, WA. These photos are courtesy of Scott Boysen. And I must thank Tyboo for making it so quick and easy to set up the album. That Tyboo guy does not waste time. I believe the best...

A Nice Visit with Scott at Triton Marine

Thanks for that, Pat. I believe the 25 Cruiser you were looking at is coming to me in NC. Scott has been in contact with me several times about the progress being made plus a couple of custom details that he is taking care of. I've received a dozen photos of the build process. Sure makes one...

Its time to thank Matt and Marc

Here, here! I agree. Also, have never bought a thing from either of them but if I was ever in their area I would surely stop in. Thanks guys!

    Poll: New or Used

Sounds to me like Jack in Alaska's 1983 22' Classic, that has been passed from father to son, is about the oldest darn C-Dory out there. And by the looks of his photo album I take it he didn't spend a lot of time floating around Lake Peaceful Pines sipping mint julips in that boat.

    Seasports web site

http://www.bellinghamherald.com/2010/08 ... z0y0vompQx This article indicates that the bank took ownership of Seasport. That may explain things.

    Poll: New or Used

Arising from the "Nordic Tug furloughs workers" topic I was interested in what percentage of people buy new versus used. I tend to be a buy-it-new kind of guy when possible. I like to take good care of it from day one and avoid surprises. But I've sure saved some money buying cars that were...

    Nordic Tug furloughs workforce

I don't think the market for C-Dory's is saturated per se based on the relative lack of these boats in many big-time boating areas. The Chesapeake Bay, for instance, doesn't have a C-dory dealer within 200 miles. You'll have to go to NC or Long Island to purchase a new one. There used to be...

    FAVORITE PLACE

For an amazing contrast of natural and urban beauty I haven't seen anything like the Potomac River. Beginning at a noisy boat ramp at the end of the runway at Reagan National Airport the planes pass overhead so close that you can see passanger's faces. Obviously, its not peace and quiet but it...

    Towing weight

I just ordered a 2011 GMC Sierra Duramax diesel. That's after a bad experience coming home from Upstate NY broken down on the side of the road with boat in tow -- plus wife and kids. The hills and curves were challenging for my 2000 5.3l gas Tahoe loaded down with bunches of luggage and...
