    Life at anchor

I have a 22 and don't think it's any more rolly than other similarly sized boats - perhaps less due to the flat hull. But I definitely find she sails on the hook. I'm excited to try JamesTXSD method.

    winter reading

I didn't see any of John Kretchmer's books listed here. I highly recommend his books. Offshore sailor, delivery captain, and excellent writer. https://johnkretschmersailing.com/books/

    2 Pole Bimini design

We're having a bimini made for Curious Traveler in a few weeks. I'm requesting support poles so the frame stays upright and the bimini collapses onto the frame, instead of the one pole version where the frame folds back and lays down. I just assumed I would have support poles extend to the back...

    We did it!

Congratulations! You guys are going to have so much fun with her and you have beautiful cruising grounds up there. Go out and buy a new external hard drive now because you'll quickly fill up your phone with pictures of her. Something about a C-Dory and a sunset is just special. There aren't many...

    Install fresh water wash down

That would certainly be enough for a quick rinse. Now to complicate things further, I could rig it with a through-hull to wash with brackish water, then switch over to rinse with fresh. Nope.

    Nootka Sound BC Trip

Gorgeous. PNW is on my bucket list. Would love to charter a Trawler up there. Really wish the weather was sunnier and drier because it would be heaven for us...perfect combination of mountains and water.

    Install fresh water wash down

Brewkid, I actually thought of sticking the intake down the freshwater fill hole but thought you'd all think I was crazy! I hadn't done the math yet but if my pump is 3.5 gpm, then this whole idea might not work. You're right, I'll empty my tank pretty quickly. Bob, I would fill up when we...

    Install fresh water wash down

Hello C-Brats, I'm curious if anyone has any input on this idea. I'm thinking about installing a freshwater wash down pump on my 22 Cruiser. I keep her in the water in my neighborhood marina. We don't have water or electric at the slip. This past summer I picked up a raw water pump and stuck...

    Antifreeze for winterization?

It's one of those things I did only because that's how my neighbor showed me to do it. Run the motor with antifreeze until it pees pink. Glad to know I don't need to do it...was a pain.

    Antifreeze for winterization?

Thanks. It's funny how many different perspectives there are on winterizing. Many of my neighbors don't do anything, others seem to be prepping for an Arctic winter. I changed the engine oil, gearcase oil, fogged the plugs, and drained the carbs.

    Antifreeze for winterization?

Apologize if this is already addresses, I did a quick search and didn't see it. I'm headed out to winterize my Honda BF90. I checked the SELOC guide and it says to flush the motor but doesn't say anything about flushing with pink antifreeze. I've always done this with my old evinrude. Is this...

    California Dive Boat Captain Indicted

Sorry, by "Charter" I meant bareboat charter with friends. Right now, if something happens, we can simply claim that we're ignorant charter skippers. But I imagine with a Captain's license, I may become a bit more of an attractive target for a civil suit. And when I race I am currently just a...

    Whats the bilge pump secret???

I do get water under the floor. If you recall, when I purchased her she had been sitting on a trailer for several years. The surveyor's moisture meter detected moisture in the cockpit floor but it sounded fine with percussion. I had a local marina's fiberglass guy who's been working on boats for...
