Over the side rail ladder. Thanks for input

That's why I mentioned that I extended the standoffs. Easy to do using the left-over tubeing from cutting off the bottom step. Use smaller telescoping sized pieces about 4 inches long. Pop-rivet the smaller tubes 2" (or centered) inside the larger ones to strengthen the splice. ALUMINUM RIVITS...

    Don't worry, be happy!

I just hit 72 and do all my boating from a deck chair on my balcony overlooking a marina on the Mississippi. I still cuss out the inexperienced and inept to my wife. She says shut-up about that, just relax, it's not your problem. She's right of course.

    Don't worry, be happy!

As a former C-dory owner I kept up with this forum (still do) and all the mechanical and structural problems that we have experienced and overcome. That's just it, with everyone's help we overcame. Things work out. I worried too much about inherent C-dory weaknesses and it affected my enjoyment...

Over the side rail ladder. Thanks for input

Thanks for posting my picture, Colbysmith. The black sockets came with the ladder from West Marine. You can order extra sockets for different locations. I didn't go with the clip system because they are designed key-hole fashion to only hold secure from one direction and I wanted to use the...

Over the side rail ladder. Thanks for input

My solution is photo 39 in my album. Sorry I don't know how to get that picture from there to here. This served us well as a comfortable way to get into the cockpit from the dock too. It could be used on either side but we stored it in place on the starboard side. It was never in the way and...

Anyone else had problems with a leaking Bomar hatch ?

Tightening the handle didn't stop the leak in my case. I traced the leak to a portion of the inside rubber gasket. As I remember I pressed on the rubber until warer drops squeezed out. I then pryed the rubber gasket away from the glass in that area (near the starboard rear corner) and applied...

I sold Jeeps for many years. I remember being at the announcement meeting for the Scrambler pickup. They wheeled in a TV at lunch time and we watched the first test landing of Space Shuttle.

Great Product for fog light option

I agree with Thataway, every time I've Used a spotlight in the fog it results in a big grey dot about ten feet in front of where I'm pointing it. I guess I don't see the advantage, no pun intended. Colbysmith: Living on the river I see those pontoons with their dock lights on all the time...

Working on your boat when it's cold.

Whenever I work on a boat I always buy an extra screw, washer, nut or whatever for the water God.

Neutral light (green) won't turn on

I've never tried it but I think the safety clip would just cut the ignition. The starter would not be a safety consideration with an absent operator while underway.

    Boat name placement

I solved the rear name placement problem by having the lettering guy make a smaller arched-to-match decal for the rear cabin roof space between the facia and the top bulge. Not too readable at a distance but I always thought it was a nice detail. Sorry no pictures.

    16 CRUISER LOOKING FOR WATER

I did (see pictures) and was impressed! Rare but very becoming color with nicely co-ordinated canvas and upholstery. The name is very appropriate and it has a simple, uncluttered look. I give it a 10!

    Price

NADA stands for National Automobile Dealer Association. That right there tells you what they know about boats. It is ironic that this service that purports to aid buyers by clearing up the process just muddies up the water. Banks and associations don't buy C-Dorys, knowledgeable boaters do!

    knock off c-dory question

You left out a couple of important facts. 1. Are you very wealthy? 2. Do you have a very understanding spouse? 3. Is it going to be a family boat? Because teenagers won't be seen in it. 4. Can you work on it indoors? Where neighbors won't complain about it. 5. Are you young enough to finish it...

Send them an email and you'll probably get a coupon for some free ones or a check. The beauty of the internet is its easy to get restitution when your cause is just! Let them know you're loyal but very disappointed. If guaranteed satisfaction isn't built into their price, it should be!

    Upper Mississippi River

I live in Prescott, Wisconsin at the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers. Sounds like you have a great trip ahead. I wouldn't be concerned about the heat and humidity too much. You won't notice it underway at all but the nights can be a bit uncomfortable or just wonderful. The...

To survey or not to survey

When I bought mine it was a few months old and had 15 hours on it. I had it surveyed! Who knows where a good intentioned but overzealous do it yourself, boater might have drilled holes or made useless or even dangerous changes. Pictures are helpful but can't trully represent condition. A spongy...

    Side mount dingy lift

Well I guess if you read the copy the rig was born of excess: the wind power was shading the solar power. Kinda funny when you think about it. I always try to imagine what an accessory will behave like under the worst conditions. Might it be a tad unwieldly on a 22 foot boat? Will it still fit...

    portable fuel tanks

Back in the 70's I always trailered a 16 foot Starcraft with the tank on board without incident until the one time I left the fuel line connected to the outboard and the check valve malfunctioned and siphoned 3 gallons of gas into the boat/flotation. Always disconnect when not in use!
