downrigger location & opinions on best puller.

Our boat came with downriggers, but they had been removed and the holes filled. They had been located forward of the lazarette but I've seen other boats with them aft of the laz hatch. Could I mount one on the port quarter and another closer to the helm, stbd side, as almost all of this will be...

transom question & source for transom bar

Harvey, I used the Image Address, http://www.c-brats.com/albums/album606/ ... .sized.jpg. It's a little different, then wrapped it with . So is that a solid piece that is custom made or order-able? Looks great.

transom question & source for transom bar

Thanks, Bob. Where do I get ss pipe? Just google or is there Special Marine Stainless Steel that is even more expensive than regular ss. Sorry, here's the link I was referring to in the earlier post. BTW, this is a seriously cool boat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgFEIevpbq0&t=450s Again...

transom question & source for transom bar

Interesting point about the water getting back out. Hmmm. In this video the guy talks about the trapezoid shaped stern and ability to empty water as being key in following seas, around 8:30. Not our boat but same concept on a smaller scale.

    rookie needs help

Hello. My family is new to salt-water fishing. We got a crab pot with our boat last summer and had lots of luck near Bellingham. I am going to learn how to catch sole and dabs to keep the kids busy. But what I need help with is accelerated Salmon school. I want to mooch or jig but will troll...

    Ace pot puller deal !

My lovely wife got us a shrimp pot for Christmas. I've been told that not having a puller really reduces the shrimp harvested. Any thoughts on the Ace puller vs Scotty? I have Scotty downrigger mounting plates...

transom question & source for transom bar

Why does the "wall" between the motor well and the cockpit have the cut-out shape? I think when I was at NMI they current designs do not have this. It would seem to me that in a really bad following sea that the cut-out would let water in that could be kept out. Also, is the bar that goes...

    building an Alaskan bulkhead

Bob, thanks for the info on the standoff and "sealing" the door. That makes sense, the same way that hatches work. Again, my nautical background is sooo limited. We'll see what the summer brings but I would love the dry sole around the helm next winter.

    building an Alaskan bulkhead

Hi all. I am seriously considering building an Alaskan bulkhead on our 19'. The added security when it is on the trailer at my house all summer and the dryness factor during the wonderfully wet NW winters make it seem like a good investment of time and energy. Aside from being warmer during the...

    Holes in the hull

I realized that my family commitments for the month of December combined with my lack of work space made it really challenging to do this project correctly. The guys at the NMI had some concerns with the amount of material that was going to come out and how I would cradle the hull. So I talked...

    Holes in the hull

Hey localboy, thanks for the tip, The Boatworks Today videos are already helpful and it'll be great to have a video reference moving forward. The CSM I got is from Fiberlay and the description on the website says... "Orca Chopped Strand Mats consist of chopped glass fibers bonded together...

    Holes in the hull

I had thought to use the spray foam around the lazarets or if I check the core around the bow hatch. I'm hoping/planning on not removing any fiberglass from these areas. I'm not sure if that core is connected to the sole core in any way? And none of the actual fiberglass, around the hatch or the...

    Holes in the hull

OK That inject a deck looks interesting because... However, there's no part of the deck that feels soft or squishy at all. I don't really know what to do. You can see where the core is just mushy junk that I can pull out vs more solid but still wet material. So do I fix the holes in the...
