    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Well...maybe we can get a group rate in 83 Dollar Cove! There is usually a fishing tournament going on when we are there in February...so the fishing must be OK. One year we saw a huge stiper that a guy caught...50 pound range. They plant trout in the winter and that attracts the bass...which...

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Steve...don't know why we haven't heard from Roy and Lori...think I'll send them an email and see what's up. As usual...no specific plan on where we will be when...but unless something keeps us at Katherine...I bet you will find us in Eighty Three Dollar Cove the first night....about mile 6.5 to...

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Jeff...you should be able to find us...hail C-Dory's on channel 68...or 16...somebody will answer up. Looks like you have a Pacific trailer...they have a plant here in Socal...in Chino. Very helpful bunch. If you don't have other resources for getting your trailer fixed...give them a call.

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Katherine Landing is actually almost due north of Laughlin...you head a little east of Laughlin and then turn north...it's only 6 or 7 miles to Katherine. Some folks may want to visit the casinos or buffets in Laughlin.

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Steve...great to have you along. Your California license won't work...Lake Mohave is actually between Nevada on the west and Arizona on the east. A license from one state or the other is needed...along with a use stamp from the state you don't have a license from. I will launch at Katherine...

Alrighty then! Sounds like we have ourselves a gathering! Let's hope for good weather and the Quagga don't get us. Bring your cameras and binocs...those Bighorn are something to see.

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Let's revive the Lake Mohave Cruise this year. We use to do this in February and always had a great time. Lake Mohave is on the Colorado River below Lake Mead. It's about 50 miles long as I recall. Three landings...Katherine Landing on the south...Cottonwood Cove about in the middle...and Willow...

Changing my own oil; need some backup!

Tim...the nozzle on your grease gun appears to be tightened all the way down. Grab the knurling on the tip and loosen it from the gun. The tip is built like a chuck on a drill motor...and if loosened will go on and off the zerks with much less effort. If you are on a zerk that is difficult to...

    2009 C-Brats Gatherings/Cruises

Warren...I think the best weather on Powell occurs in September-October. The water is still warm and the risk of winds is less. This year I think I will just do the two weeks in September.

    2009 C-Brats Gatherings/Cruises

I'm thinking Lake Powell will be about the same dates next year...I'll probably launch around September 17th...the rendevous in Oak Canyon on the 19th. Also...thinking about doing a Fall Delta Cruise on the California Delta. This would be mid to late October...and head in the oposite direction...

    10/10 - 10/12 - 6th Annual Santa Barbara Seafood Cruise

Yep...thought we would cruise over to the Port Royal for dinner and listen to some of that great music that Joel loves so much! I'll be in the area mid afternoon.

Smoked chicken and apple sausages and O'Brien potatoes from Rana Verde.

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Pat...I don't have much of a plan...with all the different arrival times and launch points...best we can do is shoot for the rendezvous at Oak Canyon on the 20th. After that we can head out as a group if that is what we want to do. But it's all tentative...we may go into Fiftymile and not find a...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

When I want to anchor out in the vicinity of Wahweap I usually head for Lone Rock Canyon...just north of Wahweap. With the shortcut at Castle Rock open this year it would be easy to use Warm Creek Bay also. Why don't we say we will leave Wahweap around noon on the 18th? If that works for...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

We can leave the ramp at any time. What would work for everyone? How many folks plan on starting out on the 18th?

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Tony...my plan at this point is to be up the Escalante on the 21st...probably overnight in Fiftymile...then up the main channel again the 22nd. Probably in Iceberg the next night. Should be able to hook up about the time you are headed down. Hope this helps you find us.

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Well...I just looked in my logs at the last 5 or 6 trips and they were all between 300 and 400 miles. It's a big lake...and the shoreline is a bit convoluted...thousands of miles. Lots of exploring. All depends on what you want to do. Could go there and not travel 20 miles. Or you could try to...

Ken...a frisbee with a slot cut in it so it will slide on the line works great. And yes...the critters will board you at night if your lines are dry.

A good 5 minute rolling boil would be fine. Chlorine is not effective against Cryptosporidium...so better than nothing...but I wouldn't chance it unless necessary. If you find that you must use lake water to drink....gather it in a container...let it settle...decant...and boil for 5 minutes. Now...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Pat...looking back through my logs...I see that a week on Powell usually has amounted to between 300 and 400 miles. There is fuel at mile 40 and again at mile 95. These mileages are measured from the dam. There are lots of side trips which can really pile up the miles. For example...last trip I...
