Barry...the VHF is good for weather. One or two channels are available and vary depending on where you are on the lake. Of course you need to "see" the repeater...so reception does not cover the entire lake. We are usually able to listen to weather every day at some point while we are underway...

I just want to remind everyone that if you want to join the group while on Powell...you should do so at the launch ramp or the rendezvous in Oak Canyon on the 25th. Powell is so huge and the topography so severe that your chances of "catching up with the group" or contacting us by radio/cell...

Barry...Oak Canyon is at mile 51...to starboard ascending. Highly recommend the Stan Jones map for getting around on Lake Powell. Also the book by Kelsey...Boaters Guide to Lake Powell. Kevin...as Jody mentioned...fuel stops are about 50 miles apart...but you can easily travel several hundred...

For whatever reason...the 25's are really hurt by the altitude at Powell. The 22's don't seem to suffer much...I loose about 200 rpm top end. It seems the 25's need to go down at least 2 prop sizes to maintain performance.
