    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

Jody...Terry wants to order 6 ea of those devices. Mary...bring some frisbees and we will show you how to rig them. Or...better yet...just plan on anchoring off at night. Doesn't hurt to bring a few traps just in case you pick up a visitor. To the critters on the beach...boats on shore are...

    Twin 40s or 50s

Be careful about blanket comparisons in this horsepower range. 40's and 50's can be very close...and can be very different. Depends on the brand. For example...40hp Yamaha is 3 cylinder...50hp is 4 cylinder. World of difference. Things like displacement and alternator output are also important...

    New Marinaut boat owner

Looks like your delivery timing would make for a great shakedown cruise at the Lake Powell gathering in September! You'll see lots of boats and get lots of outfitting ideas. Hope to see you there!

Windlass causing unusal drop in voltage

If your batteries are only reading 12.49 volts they are not in good condition. My guess is that deteriorating batteries are the cause of your sudden problem.

    Bomar Hatch Leaking

Many sealants just don't seem to bind to the frame or the lens. This is the stuff that BOMAR recommends, and I have used it with great success. GE SilPruf SCS2000 Silicone Sealant Get it at Amazon.

Roger...Oak Canyon is to starboard ascending at mile 51. It's on the Stan Jones map...which by the way everyone should get a copy of. Lots of good info on the back of the map...and the standard most use for finding your way around Lake Powell. Available at the various stores at the lake...but I...

    09/22 Lake Powell 2012

Well let's firm up the Lake Powell cruise dates for this September. Rendezvous will be in Oak Canyon on Saturday, September 22. I will launch in Wahweap on Friday at noon and head up river with anyone that would like to tag along. Probably overnight somewhere along the way...then head for Oak...

Help with the name of a fitting...

Cable Boot or Motorwell Boot. Problem is...they used different types from time to time...and there are a zillion different sizes available. Best to take off the old boot and take it to the marine supply and match it up...otherwise you will end up drilling more holes to mount the new boot...

    G4 HT chain for windlasses

The diagram shows the proper way...this will result is the least amount of stress when the boat veers. Otherwise the load on the anchor will result in bending or breaking. Don't forget to secure the pin with seizing wire.

    Wiper Blade resource needed.

The Anco number is 25-12 for the blade assembly, and the refill only number is 12-12. Not carried in stock in most stores as this size is not common these days...but they are available online from many vendors...even Amazon has them.

    Replacement Lazarette Covers

These from IMTRA Marine Products have worked out real well. Sometimes a little adjustment to the cutout is needed...but usually go in the same hole. SPA-40154 SERIES 4000 ACCESS HATCH, MEDIUM, DREAM WHITE

Chain attachment at bottom of anchor

I would rather buy an occasional anchor than try to get a good nights sleep depending on a zip tie for the integrity of my anchor set. If the boat veers due to a current or wind change a reset would be iffy. Might be OK for a lunch hook.

    lug crimper needed

Solder is an inferior method for marine connections...and is not an approved method. Crimp connections properly done are far superior. Lots of reference available from your friend Google.

    09/24 - Lake Powell 2011

I would think that "The Dog of the Desert" would be a bit of a deterrent...but I never expected Terry would be an attractant! Seriously...I think the animals are conditioned to look at boats as grocery stores...pretty easy pickings compared to the desert. And I'll take a mouse any day compared...

Reply from Terry: First, did you see the pictures of the mouse that I posted? Second, what big spider?!

Well, finally got boarded...by a rodent, a mouse who woke Terry up by running across her arm while laying in the v-berth. Her yell sure scared the heck out of me! Got the little guy trapped and off the boat the next morning so all was well again...or so we thought! Boarded again 2 nights...

Prepping for ethanol use on a 22

Jay...I would be concerned that cutting the end of the pick up tube would reduce the amount of fuel it will draw. Seems to me it would suck air sooner if it was cut. I have never had any fuel/water problems and I think a contributing factor is that I suck the tanks completely dry fairly often...

Brent is correct. The general idea is for the group to be up the Escalante on Sunday-Monday and stopping in Halls Crossing for fuel/provisions on our way to Forgotten and Defiance House on Tuesday. That is... if the creek don't rise...which it has...some 20 feet this year compared to last. Water...

    mystery bracket in V-berth

You win! There should also be a black cap mounted on the bulkhead at the helm to screw on the fitting when you remove the light...this to protect the contacts when the light is not installed.

    09/24 - Lake Powell 2011

We saw not a trace of this last year. If you were to stay at Antelope Marina...or around Antelope Island...this would be an issue. We will be 50 miles up lake by the time the festivities get underway...so not to worry. However...as far as quiet company and places...well...the campfire can get a...
