Android vs Apple for Navigation use

Hmmm, I had a few issues, but thought they were due to my very old Android device, but maybe it wasn't all my device.

Android vs Apple for Navigation use

I don't think it the OpenCpn development team. I think this is someone that ported over a version to Android, so the OpenCPN team doesn't really control it. Don't know all the relationships there.

Android vs Apple for Navigation use

You can OpenCpn in the Google Play Store. There are two versions, a free one and a paid one. The paid one is the one that is supported and seems to be the one people recommend. That is the one I loaded.

Android vs Apple for Navigation use

I just bought an inexpensive Windows tablet to use with OpenCpn on our sailboat. I need the Windows OS for something else I do and my old Andriod just wasn't cutting it. So far it seems to be fine, but I am only first going to try it out for real next week. I've used OpenCPN on my old laptop...

    Most stupid thing you've seen...

The stupidest thing I have ever seen was a long time ago. My wife and I had a 20' sailboat at a lake marina and since we didn't have an engine, we used to sail in and out of the slip. A guy across from us decides he wants to try that and comes heading for his slip dead downwind with the main...

    Water in Cabin

"Gerhard, have you put food dye into the water--and put it in the sump? " I have not done that yet, but I was thinking of it. I just didn't want to stain anything, but maybe that isn't a problem. It looks like it is just coming in under that board, but I just don't see how that is possible...

    Water in Cabin

I have had a less severe but similar problem. Water appears to be seeping into the cabin from the little compartment where the bilge pump is. I have fiberglassed all three sides around the bilge pump area and I am still getting water seeping in. I am about at my wits end!

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Thanks, Mike! I don't know, John and Eileen's romantic adventure is going to be hard to top!

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Our 31st anniversary was last week. We didn't do something quite as romantic as work on the head plumbing, but Barbara suggested we take the C-Dory up river to Cobb Island and have crabs and shrimp for our anniversary. It was a great way to spend the day. Gerhard

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Got our C-Dory 22 about a year and a half ago. It was a donation boat and had been sitting in the water for several years unattended. I got it basically cleaned up and running after we got it, but just have been busy with life and other boats to really bring it up to snuff. Finally decided I...

    Calling all VHF specialists!

Almost certain this is a problem with the DC wiring...a corroded connection, corroded fuse holder, too small a diameter wire for the length of the run, etc. I occasionally do radiotelephone safety inspections for commercial vessels and this is not at all unusual in an older installation. If...

    Propane stove in cabin

This does not have to be the case. In our sailboat we have propane sensors in the bilge. If propane is detected, an alarm is triggered and the solenoid is shut down by the system to prevent additional propane from flowing.

    Cold Water Safety: 1: 10: 1

And if you think it won't happen to you, here is my story. I was on the sailing team in college and we started practice as soon as the Charles River up in Boston thawed. We had a pool growing up so I was a strong swimmer. We had a practice race in dinghys. I capsized before the start. I...

    Trailer dimensions for C22

Thanks folks. This is all really helpful information. It's looking like we could make the proposed trailer work, but it isn't ideal, but oh so close. Too bad because it was one of their left over 2018s, so the price was good. Oh well... Gerhard

    Trailer dimensions for C22

Do you happen to have the model number of the Load Rite trailer you wound up with? I can't quite narrow it down with the description. The folks down here are Load Rite dealers so that would make it easy to compare. Thanks! Gerhard

    Trailer dimensions for C22

Last year I bought a 1998 C-Dory 22 cruiser without a trailer. I am now trying to buy a trailer. I went to two trailer dealers near my home and showed them the drawing with dimensions on the boat. The one I tentatively selected is a Load Rite bunk trailer 5S-AC21T5200. Since I have no way to...
