Connect Old Raymarine Stuff to New NMEA 2000 Backbone?

We don't have an autopilot on our C-Dory, but we do on our sailboat and it would also do occasional major course changes. Finally figured out my wife was putting her purse (with cell phone and other metallic stuff) on the shelf right above the course sensor! Whenever she would move her purse...

    Powerpole anchor system?

Just a couple of weeks ago or so our local sea rescue service had a heck of a time trying to bring in a boat that had their power pole fail in the down position. Apparently a cable broke so it couldn't be raised manually either. I know nothing about these systems and have no opinion on them...

    Float switch alternate wiring advice

I run an old wooden vessel for a museum and that boat, due to the way it is compartmentalized, has six bilge pumps and nine float swithes (three are high water alarms). There is an additional bilge pump and float switch in the yawl boat. Not a week goes by one of these isn't failing, so I feel...

    Coast Guard App

I sail a vessel for a museum and I use the float plan part of that app every time we take the boat out of the area. It has all the info on the boat so I just add the details and copies are emailed to the museum director and my wife.

How tall is a 2004 22' Cruiser on an EZ loader?

We bought our last house for the dog and this one for the boat! I can relate!

    California Dive Boat Captain Indicted

Bob, Thanks. The skipjack (Claud W. Somers) is a museum exhibit and on the National Register of Historic Places, so it is authentic with a yawl boat and no engine on the vessel. The one I previously sailed had been retrofitted with an inboard. Our boat shop just finished building us a new...

    California Dive Boat Captain Indicted

I have had my CG masters license for almost 15 years now. I currently am captain of a 1911 Chesapeake Bay skipjack for a local museum. Before that I was relief captain on another skipjack that took school kids out as part of an educational program. I'm about to retire from my "real" job and...

    Cutting Board

That would be Bud on Emma Mae. See the thread below: http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=28904 He made a nice one for us! Right, you don't want to cut on the fancy side, but you can flip it over and use the back.

    Short Perko Anchor Light

That light is also the masthead light when running and the rules specify a required minimum height above the sidelights: 33 CFR 84.03 (d) The masthead light, or the all-round light described in Rule 23(c), of a power-driven vessel of less than 12 meters in length shall be carried at least one...

    San Francisco Bay - C-Dory 16

Just re-read your original post and now realize that you are currently sailing SF Bay, so you already know everything I said! Guess I need to slow down! We were in Sonoma the last 5 years we were there, so practically neighbors. Kept the boat at Vallejo and in Alameda before that.

    San Francisco Bay - C-Dory 16

My wife and I sailed on SF Bay for over 10 years. When we moved back to SF, we had been sailing on lakes with a 20' sailboat. Only took a couple of sails to come to the conclusion that we needed a larger boat. On the Delta I think a 16 would be quite fine. On the Bay, I think you just need...

    Compass location in C-22 Cruiser

Just a funny aside similar to the rigging knife issue. Our sailboat's electronic compass for the autopilot is in the aft berth under a shelf. One day under autopilot my wife goes down below and all of a sudden we make about a 20 degree course change. I correct that and a little while later we...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I don't have any problems switching tanks with the engine running either. As soon as I switch, I also give the squeeze bulb a little action to help and never had the engine even hiccup.

New Trailer I think need some adjustments

I have an EZ Loader trailer that looks almost identical. The tops of the bunks are angled for a deep v hull, but for a flat or almost flat hull, you simply swap the bunks (i.e. the left one goes on the right side and vice versa) and the angle is taken out of them for a flat bottom. Dealer...

    Who has a 12" chartplotter...

Ours is a 10" and set up just like Harvey's. I don't have a current pic. Our compass is on the centerline above the doorway to the vee berth just like the electronic compass in Harvey's picture. Ours compass isn't electronic, so I don't like it a lot there and if steering by compass from the...

    Window Coverings

We did pretty much what Steve described. We replaced the corner screws with screws and snap ends from Sailrite and made the coverings out of Sunbrella. My wife sewed in a small strap with another snap so that we just unsnap the bottom of the coverings, roll them up, and hold then in place with...
