    All chain rode for TC255?

That's helpful, thanks! We're cruisers, not fishers, so I want the confidence of an all-chain rode when anchoring here in the PNW.

    All chain rode for TC255?

I want to replace the 15' of chain+rope that came with my TC255 with an all-chain. By my estimate, 200 feet weighs 125 lbs -- too much for the Tomcat? Maybe 150'...?

    anchor snubber length

You make a good point regarding possible chafing at the thimble...I'll stick with the tried and true fixed snubber. Btw, I've had good results using a single-leg snubber in settled weather...fast and easy to deploy.

    anchor snubber length

Many thanks! I've decided to order a double-leg snubber, 5/8"x15', 3-strand nylon that is called an "equalizer" -- "It consists of two sections of rope that create a “Y” shape and slide through each other to ‘equalize’ the tension on the bow cleats..." I've never seen a snubber like this but it...

    anchor snubber length

Gary, what is the length of your snubber. I have a Mantus snubber from my previous boat but at 23’ it seems too long for the Tomcat…I’m thinking maybe 15’-18’ is about right?

    anchor snubber length

I am fitting out my new-to-me Tomcat 255 and would like to use a single length of nylon rope for an anchor snubber. My anchoring experience has only been with larger trawlers (40'-52')...what diameter rope and what length would you recommend for the Tomcat (we typically anchor in 25'-35' of...

Hardware replacement for drawers and cabinets

We have a Tomcat 255...it has the same cabinetry as most other C-Dory models. On our boat, the drawers and cabinets are held in place with a spring latch that is a PITA to pull open (my wife has given up completely). Has anyone replaced the factory hardware with something more user-friendly? I...

    Bimini top

I want to install a so-called Bimini canvas top on my Tomcat 255. King Marine is backed up until the fall-winter. Any recommendations for a ready-made product available locally or purchased online? No need for side curtains, just a cockpit cover for rain and sun, ideally, one that folds back...

The OFFICIAL TomCat Permatrim BEFORE AND AFTER thread!!

Cap' Starbucks, Are the fuel consumption figures in your chart for 2 engines? My Tomcat 255 with Suzuki 150s displays between 1.9 - 2.2 GPH when cruising between 18-21 mph, but I'm thinking the electronic display is reading just 1 motor...What say you --

    Waste holding tank monitor

I am getting acquainted with our new-to-us 2017 Tomcat and do not see a waste tank monitor -- Has anyone installed a sensor/monitor to show tank levels? Also, how many gallons is the holding tank?

    costs of electrifying a C-Dory 22

Given the importance of operating at hull speed, would the Tomcat, with twin near-displacement hulls be a better candidate for electrifying, albeit with somewhat larger motors?

Winterizing question / in salt water

I have 25 plus years owning and maintaining diesel trawlers...but OB engines are new for me. My new to me TC255 is in a boat house...but the boat is too long by a couple of feet, so the lower units of my Suzuki 150s are exposed. How best to protect from freezing when moored in salt water? (I...

    Lightweight dinghy for Tomcat..?

Any recommendation for a lightweight dinghy for our new-to-us Tomcat 255? I like the Takacat T260 (55 lbs, 8.5'x5') but would like to know of other options. Do you carry it on the cabin top (we have the radar arch) or tied down in the cockpit?

    generator

Instead of gas powered generator, consider one of the many new portable lithium battery packs. The Yoshino B2000 is a solid state unit weighing 31 lbs. It has a built-in 2000 watt inverter with 1300 watt hours capacity. It will handle all of your AC needs and last for a good long time, depending...

    New member

Greetings all, I have just purchased a 2017 Tomcat 255 (it was NMI's demo boat :) and am excited to explore a different style of boating. For nearly 30 years, we have cruised our Pacific Northwest waters; from the San Juans to the islands of British Columbia, up the Inside Passage to SE...
