The one that didn't get away

God, he was a beautiful fish! He was very thick. We tried to get a good photo as we revived him but he had other plans and away he went. It was one of those outdoor moments that will stay with you. Thanks again for a great day.

    Priming the engine...

Charlie, Jim mentioned the wax or no wax earlier in this thread. Source of frustration for me. Maybe you're on to something, though. Pulling the primer bulbs may help. lol

    Priming the engine...

I've tried everything...buffer with polishing compound...rubbing compound...wax...no wax...the color stripe still turns to chalky crap after a month. I'll be blunt...I'm sick of messing with it so I'm eventually just going to paint the bloody thing and be done with it. It's downright embarassing...

Will a 9.8 kicker motor get a CD 22 cruiser on a plane?

We have the 8hp Nissan, which is the same motor you have, just tuned for 8 vice 9.8. It will push the boat 6 or 7 mph wide open. Tilting up the 80 Yami doesn't seem to make any difference. Enjoy the new boat! Rick

    Water in my oil...uh-oh.

Changed out the thermostat today. It was simple. Now when the engine is warmed up the water coming out the pee hole is warmer than what she's floating in. The old thermostat was nasty and stuck open. I can't get it to budge. Thanks for the input, gents. Rick

Transom Straps vs Over the Gunnels

We use these at the transom eyes...works like a champ. After 2 years, the rust is starting to take its toll...so when we replace them we're going with the stainless version. They stay bolted to your trailer. All the bass boat crowd uses them. Rick http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/ ...

    Question about Raymarine/Raytheon Sportpilot

Awesome...maybe that's what's up with ours. I turned it on a couple days ago to see if it was still working ok and all it did was make noise...no wheel movement. Maybe those screws that were loose in your photos fell right out or something. I'll have to tear into it when I get time. Thanks...

    Water in my oil...uh-oh.

They're all proud of their parts. Who else would charge 780 bucks for a starter? Yep...Yami 250hp we had on a previous boat. I just about had a heart attack. Insurance covered it though...

    1981 22' Angler $13,900 (Sequim, WA)

Sorry for the late reply, Dave, I haven't looked at this post in a while. Here's a good thread in general: http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=5208 I think the biggest thing is to get a feel for how the boat was cared for. Also, look at deck hardware to see if water could be penetrating into...

    Water in my oil...uh-oh.

Talked to a Nissan/Tohatsu/Mercury mechanic today and he said the same thing you guys did...thermostat is stuck open and we're getting condensation in the oil. He showed me where it was and it's a simple fix. I ran the motor in the slip today after work for about 10 minutes and the water coming...

    Water in my oil...uh-oh.

Thanks, gents. I flushed out the system but didn't smell any fuel. I'm going to talk to the outboard mechanic at work tomorrow to get his help checking out the thermostat. I'll let you know what we find.

    Water in my oil...uh-oh.

We have the boat in a slip for the month. I left the kicker in the up position. It is normally stored in the down position while on the trailer at the house and while going down the road. Last couple times out I noticed a bit of normal looking oil at the bottom of the cowling at the dock. I...

    Question about Raymarine/Raytheon Sportpilot

No, I didn't split the unit open. I can't remember even what I found cuz it was so long ago. I'm thinking I may just remove it this winter.

    Question about Raymarine/Raytheon Sportpilot

Our boat came with a Sportpilot and has the same slop in the wheel. It's terrible. I had a look and can't figure out what the issue is so I've just lived with it all these years. I've been thinking of just removing the Sportpilot since I never use it anyway. If there's a simple fix I'd sure like...

Marines place $22.5M order for M1911

Since I am the original poster, I can safely say there was nothing political about it. It was simply a nice story about my favorite pistol being brought back into service. Nothing more. I posted the source as Fox because that's where I read it. I don't understand how it can possibly be spun into...

Marines place $22.5M order for M1911

Great to the the ol' warhorse serving her country again in good numbers! I'm a huge fan...I own two of them. From Fox news... It’s been called the greatest handgun ever made, and it has barely changed sine 1911, when the legendary John Browning designed it especially for the U.S. Military...
