Trailer Tongue Jack for King Trailer and CD 25 Cruiser

On the off-chance that I will be sufficiently recovered to go to to the FH gathering, we pulled Daydream out of the garage yesterday and discovered the Fulton tongue jack on the King Saltwater trailer was toast. Looking to replace it and would appreciate some guidance on specs. I will measure...

    A Professional Maritime Trainer's Rant

My friend Capt. Richard Rodrigues writes the Bitter End Blog on Facebook. He is a professional maritime trainer and also a Tow Boat U.S. captain out of Anacortes. If you do Facebook, this is one blog that is always interesting and worth subscribing to! This is a copy and paste of his post from...

Emergency Medical Insurance for Canada cruising

Patty here. We use Emergency Plus, it's about $200 a year and covers both of us anywhere in the world. We learned about it from Bill and El who had occasion to use it a few years ago and their story is similar to the one shared by Dr. Bob-covered everything!

1st use of composting toilet. Not sure I'll keep it.

We deleted the standard marine head in 2005 prior to Daydream's build for a credit and installed an Airhead ourselves. We are so glad we did! As Dr. Bob said, commercially available composting toilets have, or should have, a handle on the outside that rotates the bars inside to mix the poop...

1st use of composting toilet. Not sure I'll keep it.

Patty here. We had an Airhead put in Daydream as she was being built, 2005. We have loved it. We spent 8 months on the Great Loop, used it every day, and only had to dispose of solids 4 times. The convenience of not needing to pump out-priceless.

    Baxter Barrett Anderson

Yes, MANY adventures! Every C-Brat Get-Together. Every cruise in the San Juans, South Sound, Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and Princess Louisa. Lakes Roosevelt, Priest, and Pend Oreille. Four times to Lake Powell. 5,428 miles around the Great Loop. Arizona. Right now it is BOTH heartaches and...

    Insurance

Patty here. We are upset. We have had Progressive since 2003. Premiums go up, we get it. Last year was a hefty increase. This year we are being charge $100 more. The reason is, based on our (stellar) credit report, we do not have any revolving loans or payments except one credit card. We...

    05/11 - 05/14 - OFFICIAL 2023 Friday Harbor CBGT

I will keep track of requests for christenings but there is some uncertainty whether Patty and I will be able to attend. On January 9 I was to have my right knee replaced. In the course of the knee replacement, I sustained a fractured femur. I was in surgery for 7 hours, and I now have a metal...

    Closing Lake Mead

One comment on the filming issue: either an iPhone or big professional gear could be used for "commercial" filming. It would seem to depend on the purpose. It would be a STRETCH to say videos for personal enjoyment of friends and family are "commercial" filming. However, even iPhone videos...

    BC insurance Law

I saw this article last month in our local paper, The Northern Light. The article I think meant to say "switching to a no fault system" rather than "switching to a fault system." It basically says that if a U.S. driver it involved in a collision in B.C with an at-fault B.C. driver, the U.S...

Flex v Fixed frame Solar panel

We have 200 watts of solar in rigid panels on Daydream's roof. We also have a 2000 watt Wen generator. Our largest load is an ARB freezer. So far, the combination of the engine while cruising and the solar have been more than adequate on our 2017 Great Loop, at Lake Powell, and in the San Juan...

Water Lines in CD25 - Anyone Replaced?

OK, you attached the new host to the old one under the step, and pulled it out. How did you attach the two hoses so they would not come apart while you were pulling? Was there any potential for the hoses to get get snagged or stuck as you were pulling them? Thanks!
