    Garmin temp sensor problem.

Hello Seabeagle, Sorry I'm late to this thread, but I also had a bad power cord on my 5208; my unit would simply go off...sometimes with jostling from a wave, sometimes nothing...then come back on. It was very unsettling. Tracing the power supply seemed to reproduce the symptom with wiggling...

    SmartPilot SPX-5R Installation

Hello Roger, Yes, I hope Raymarine has worked out the 'bugs'. This unit was recently released after a year or more of re-engineering. I especially like the "point and shoot" option as well as the "track" (to a waypoint or follow a course) option. It is great to be able to take care of...

    SmartPilot SPX-5R Installation

Hello All, Last week I installed the Raymarine SmartPilot SPX-5R on my boat. I have heard of very few on this forum who use this type of autopilot, so I wanted to post my first impressions. This type of 'wheel' autpilot is simple to install and does not involve tapping into the hydraulic...

    Epoxy seal project

Hello Robert, If I understand correctly, you have removed the bow rail? Was there a lot of "spring" in the tubing such that it will require a lot of force to get back into position and be difficult to get it back in place? Somewhere on this site, like 2-3 years ago, someone cautioned about...

    Centric II Helm Seat

Hello Thom, I recently installed a new helm seat in my boat. I don't have any pics in my album yet. It is the 'delux' seat they sell at Tractor Supply Company (TSC). It has adjustable arm rests and slides fore/aft. Height is essentially the same as the stock seat. This is certainly not the...

    Ipad

Hello Roger, There was a thread about the iPad a few weeks ago...I believe Jim on Wild Blue was reporting on his experiences thus far. If you are considering using the iPad for navigation (boat or car)...make sure you get the 3G version. The WIFI only version of iPad "locates" itself using...

    Pumps for changing oil

I use the Pella 6 liter extractor (http://www.jerrybleach.com/pelaapplications.html) with great success. It excels for removing oil from the outboard, cars, lawnmowers, etc, etc. /david

Hello Martin, That sounds neat. Please post pics when you can. As the 'guts' are Starrett, it should be very accurate. /david

The iPad alongside the fixed chartplotter...

Yep, I understand...I like the idea of the iPad for all the reasons you state above. Whilst substantially more expensive than my little battery operated hand-held Garmin I currently use for back up, the iPad can be used both ON and OFF the boat. So...I may have to add the iPad to my Wish List...

The iPad alongside the fixed chartplotter...

Hello Jim, Thanks for the informative post on the iPad. Are you using any kind of 'mount' system for your iPad? LIke a RAM mount or something like that? Thanks, /david

    Florida Big Bend Cruise

Hello Dave and Marlene, I HIGHLY recommend "Joe Mama's" restaurant in Port St. Joe. It's within walking distance from the marina in the 'main street' part of downtown...maybe 4-5 blocks from the marina, maybe. Their pizza is very good. You've probably already visited Bluewater Outriggers...

    Stupid Question Probably

Hello Marc, Yes, as you so indelicately say, "suck" the oil out of the crankcase. If your outboard hAs a "pee hole" then definatly get the "oil sucker." Actauly I first got mine before i had a boat to change oil in my Passat TDI which is an entirely "top side" job. /david

    Stupid Question Probably

Alternatively, you can forget the drain plug altogether and use a "top side" oil extractor. I use the Pella (http://www.jerrybleach.com/pelaapplications.html) with great success. It excels for removing oil from the outboard, cars, lawnmowers, etc, etc. Aspirating the oil through the dipstick...

my you tube channel :0) and advice :oP

hello Scott, Chromer posted the link above in the second post in this thread....HOWEVER, the link now says "This video has been removed by the user." What's up Redfox? That was a nice video. /david

    Canvas Cover like C-Lover

Hello Moabarch I'm very happy with my canvas rack. I had a standard bimini top before the rack. The boats (C-Lover/Roger, BRAZO/Rober, and my boat Seadation) that have these kinds of racks are all 'non self bailing' cockpits. Thus, the cockpit decks are lower than your on your C25. A...

    Tomcat fuel tank access woes

HEllo Dave, On my CC23, the fittings DO NOT contain any type of ASV...they are just 'elbows.' /david
