    Compasses: Is bigger better?

The big center mount compass was in the way, and with chart plotter I didn’t need it, I thought. Then on a river fog moved in suddenly to less than 50 feet visibility. Tried to use chart plotter, it was too slow, especially trying to hold a smooth curve following the river. Bad, bad news...

    03/07 - 03/09 - 2023 Hontoon Island Gathering

I have the three charts for the St John River that I bought on our visit in 2019. They served us well. Does anyone want them, or shall I send them to the landfill? Need an address, I’ll mail no charge. Chuck

    Brakes versus Salt Water

I’m a bit confused. You only launch once a year, but you have rusted calipers. I assume then that the rust came from a previous owners use. There is no doubt half or full dozen launches each year into salt water will cause problems. What I’m not so sure about is how many launches a year...

    SOLD - 2006 CD 22, Suzuki 90 w/ 1000 hrs. $34,750

She’s brought us lots of good times but its time to swallow the anchor and let someone else enjoy her. Two Bears is for sale at Sportcraft marina in Portland, Oregon; their web site: sportcraftmarina.com. We lived aboard for 2 to 4 months at a time while boating and “boater-homing” and took...

    Wallas stove

Don't be shy about calling Scan Marine 206-285-3675. They are really - really helpful. I had not used my stove for a while and the pump gummed up. They had several suggestions and were ready to interpret what the flashing lights were saying. They must get a lot of people pushing other...

  13. Love shallow draft on hot day
On Mississippi River locals would group up in the side channels during heat of day. A fresh boat was welcomed as new people to visit with.

  14. Using the Remote
We like the slower speeds but spending a lot of time at the helm gets tiresome. With the remote for the auto pilot you can get up and wander a bit. The remote allows you to make little changes. Still like the wheel in hand for major stuff like meeting other boats.

  15. Two sets of bumpers.
The Red bumpers balls, one behind Penny\'s leg, are on a short fixed tether and have snaps that go to cleats. Good for many docks. The green longer bumpers are on a longer line and need to be tied to fit where needed. Some docks are too high or two low and sometimes you raft to a larger boat.

  16. Garmin 740 Chart plotter w/ Radar in "Overlay" mode.
The radar is in \"Overlay\" mode and shows as orange on the screen. Inter-coastal waterway Florida entering the St John River. We found the radar could often pick up navigation buoys before our eye could find them. Very confidence building in strange waters.

  17. Traveling some interesting roads
We love the Electric over hydraulic brakes which allow you to reach down and apply trailer brakes without applying truck brakes. Also, you can adjust the amount of break action from hard stop = skidding & smoking tires to just a bit of bite.

    Boat show repower deals

Hi Ken, Sometimes with boat stuff I feel like we live in the middle of no-where here in Idaho, but we do have a good local source. You might visit with Miller Marine (Ron Miller) on Hwy 12 just east of Orofino. 208-476-0795. He has lots of business in summer, but getting thru the winter is...

Performance Differences between C-22 and C-25

WoW!! This getting better than “twins vs single” discussion. And, we have not heard from Harvey yet. My only addition is that a 25 owner told me she could pass her mate in the asile without one of them sliding into the helm or dinette seat. That we cannot do in our 22. That waiting can get...
