In Need of a Kayak Rack Concept

Harvey, I have the rack physically connected to the cabin top with hose clamps, and then I use 2 rachet straps connected to the hand rails to hold the kayak down. Finally, I run a line from the boat's bow cleat to the bow of the kayak. The kayak doesn't move an inch. When we were on...

In Need of a Kayak Rack Concept

This thread has a good collection of ideas and photos for racks so I want to add a link to one more. In our photo album is now a sub album titled "PVC Kayak Rack." It contains 4 photos of a rack I easily built using PVC piping from Lowe's. The entire rack cost about $12. It is easy to...
  4. The kayak weighs a total of 32 pounds, spread between the rack and radar dome. The bow section rests on the radar dome but does not touch the anchor light or VHF antenna.

  5. I have since shortened the two upright lengths by 1/2. They were simply too tall and made it needlessly difficult to lift the kayak up and over. They are there to help keep the kayak in place and from sliding sideways. I secure the kayak with 2 ratchet straps. It does not move an inch.

  6. The center bar between the 2 uprights is one within another, adding strength as well as allowing the outside one to roll freely as the kayak is moved into place.

  7. The rack is desined to keep the kayak parallel to the boat. By doing so the stern does not wear on the bimini, nor does the kayak act like a parachute and catch the wind.

    Dreaming of owning a C-Dory

GinnaP, My wife and I have a 23' Venture model, which is very similar to the C22. We love the boat and have trailered it to many beautiful cruising grounds. Like you we are previous sailors, as are a large amount of C-Brats. What you are considering, including the various boat types...

Pin striping peeling a little bit

I had a problem with the striping tape around the cabin top brow color. It seemed to have burned thru in several areas from the sun. I ended up buying new 1/4" vinyl striping tape from a company named "Stripeman Graphix Inc." The tape was identified as "tfx premium grade vinyl." It is...

    New hull colors

Harvey, look at it this way, the shear stripe is painted white as opposed to blue or green or... It still there and still noticeable, just in the color white. Marc, you mentioned new features - new electric and mechanical options not before offered. Like what?? Rob

    New hull colors

Sounds like I am in the minority but I really like the reverse paint scheme on the Venture. Also like the new colors being offered. Change is good and I suspect the final decision will be left to the person (or dealer) making the order, so if they want tradition that is probably still...

    09/19 - 10/01 - Lake Powell 2015

I don't know if anyone is keeping track of potential attendants at Powell but in case someone is looking for us; worried about us... we are not going to be there at Oak Canyon. We cut short our trip because both Rob and I got bad colds by the time we hit Jackson Lake (Yellowstone was great fun...

    08/29 - 10/01 - Grand Slam Western Lakes 2015

We agree with Kevin that one album should suffice, although we won't be able to post any photos till we have a better Internet connection. Yellowstone was great, and while we didn't launch at Jackson Lake, we look forward to seeing Flaming Gorge for the first time and then returning to...
