    iPad brackets and forum searches

I second the suggestion of using a RAM mount. I use one to hold my iPad Air and it has never popped loose. It has a solid suction cup base that really holds, even in some pretty uncomfortable conditions. Plus, I like that I can vary the screen display from horizontal to vertical, and vary the...

    C-BRAT Calendar 2021 Submission Request

I’ve usually posted my calendar in my kitchen nook and have always loved looking at the photos, seeing the boats and geographic areas. Gives me enthusiasm for getting out on the water and seeing areas we haven’t been to. Of course, it’s also a good way to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning...

Desert Dory - Lake Havasu Oct 2020

You mentioned having a “peaceful night in the marina.” Did you sleep in the boat? We have tried to do that and have always been told it is not allowed - that the marina is for day use. Obviously overnight parking is fine but no overnight sleeping onboard the boat, even one that is properly...

Ford F150 or Toyota Tundra or ???

I’m going to add a small twist to this. We tow our 23’ Venture with a 2008 Toyota Sequoia SUV, which is essentially a Tundra with a cavernous passenger and cargo area when the back seats are folded flat. It has the same large engine and brakes that the Tundra has but we wanted the fully...

    New helm seat

Just remember that my comment about the seat comfort is based on my original seat being 14 years old. On that seat I could hit the seat bottom in rough seas! But I do love the new seat.

    New helm seat

Harvey, the seat back is not adjustable. That was a concern for me because I like the back to be relatively straight for better support. I know the seat looks like it leans back but when I’m seated it fits my back quite well and offers good support. For me, it’s set at a very comfortable...

    New helm seat

The cost for the model I bought (Sport Deluxe) was $268. They make that seat in 2 sizes. I bought the “large” because it was closer in size to the original seat. I’m a relatively small person but the large size fits me perfectly. The other size was much more narrow.

    New helm seat

I’d like to echo what chucko said. We also purchased a new helm seat from Bentleys, about 8 months ago. The service was stellar and the seat is beautiful and way (way, way) more comfortable than the original seat. Granted, by the time I replaced it that seat was roughly 14 years old, but even...

    Snappi Tool?

Bob, what lubricant do you recommend for use on the snaps? I’ve used a light lubricant before but not found one I consistently like. I do try not to use any sort of meaningful abrasive, be that in terms of a cleaner or light sandpaper. Never thought to look on Amazon for this tool. I...

    Snappi Tool?

In my last few issues of the BoatUS magazine I’ve seen advertisements for a new product called Snappi. It is a small handheld and hand powered tool that is supposed to clean and lightly lubricate snap heads for easier use. We have a full camper enclosure on our Venture model and I’ve...

    Navionics app for iphone

I primarily use the app on my iPad but since Navionics allows use on more than one device I also have it loaded on my iPhone SE. I am very happy with the app, especially on my iPad. I don’t use the phone for navigational purposes because the screen on the SE is so small, but i do use it when...

Venture 23 - Radar dome, rail and inflatable on top

I’m guessing by inflatable you mean an inflatable dinghy, like a Zodiac, Avon, etc.... The inflatable we use on our 23’ is a Sea Eagle FasTrack 385ft tandem kayak. It weighs 32 pounds and I built a rack using thick pvc pipe and store it on the cabin top. I’m not getting my photo to paste...

Secure truck and trailer parking near the san juans.

Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham has a great launch ramp. They previously allowed long term trailer parking in a nearby dirt lot but they ended that practice a couple of years ago. Now I believe the max time is 7 days. When we towed up there last year we stored our trailer in a storage yard...

    Vinyl Flooring

Lysol.... no kidding? So do you apply it full strength with a sponge or cloth and wipe it off, or dilute it with water before using? The tannin marked the bottom paint too and while I used soap on that area it didn’t clean well, nor did I work at it since I didn’t want to take off any paint...

    Vinyl Flooring

Hey Pat, thanks for your update regarding the Skipper Bob series. When we bought in 2013 we received guides published many years earlier. I’d heard they had recently been redone and updated so very glad to know that as we hope to do more Loop cruising, probably still in segments as opposed to...

    Vinyl Flooring

Hi Greg, looks like you have a very nice 23 and it’s in the perfect color too. We love ours, which we’ve owned since 2012. The main message string you’ve read actually occurred in 2014. My wife and I live in Nevada but once we retired we started to plan out a cruise agenda. We started our...

2020 FRIDAY Harbor CBGT, move to Sept 2020

I’m now reading several reports that the Canadian/US border will probably not reopen until late June, maybe after June 21. Nothing official announced as yet, but news reports appear to indicate this will likely be the decision.
