    Trim Tabs or Permatrim

I have a C-22 with twin 40's (hondas). When I bought the boat it had neither Trim Tabs or Permatrims. The C-dory is a very stern heavy boat, especially if heavily loaded, as I always seem to be. Trimming my bare motors had a barely noticeable effect on the trim of the boat. I initially...

    Ocklawaha River Restoration

This is good news. We went through the Rodman Dam and upstream on the Oklawaha last year on our annual St Johns trip. It was a beautiful journey, especially when we got upstream to where the river began to resemble its unflooded stage. We got about a mile south of Eureka Ramp, We hopped a...

    Camping chairs

After years of buying cheap chairs every year and having them fall apart, we got a pair of Travel Chairs: http://smile.amazon.com/Travelchair-Ted ... avel+chair They seem kind of pricey, but they fold up as small as the cheapies and have held up very well for 2+ years now. Carpy

    permatrim questions

I have a 22 with twin Honda 40's and both tabs and permatrims. Carpy is very stern heavy and bringing the bow down is essential efficient handling and it greatly improves fuel economy. Before the prematrims, trimming the engines had little effect on the attitude of the boat. With both tabs and...

    Your cruising speed?

Bob, I'm running 11 1/8 x 13 props. I recall hitting 28 mph racing to catch a lock on the Mississippi a few years ago. Can't say the prm's. We generally run in a much more relaxed fashion. I hope to get to Weffings in Feb for some motor work I hope they can help with the props. I've had...

    Your cruising speed?

We run Carpy (C-22 twin Honda 40's) generally at 2 speeds. Hull speed is about 6 mph and we can do that on one engine at about 2000 rpms. We are almost always heavily loaded. On plane, we run 4000-4500 rpms and get 12-16 mph. Fuel economy is about 6 mpg slow and over 4 mpg fast. I wonder...

    02/27 - 03/01 - St. John's River Gathering

We have been very late in signing up for this gathering. We have been coming to the St. Johns for the past 4 years and expect to continue to do so. It is our favorite cruising area and we have explored it extensively. The gathering last year was icing on the cake! It is great to visit with...

    oil change pumps

Over the years I have used a number of different pumps to remove oil from engines. They are essential for inboard motors that have no drain plug, or one that is inaccessible. I started with a hand pump, moved on to a reservoir type with a manual vacuum pump, a cheap electric pump and have now...

    Key West Input Please

We stayed at the city marina, Garrison Bight, in 2012. It was very reasonable and well located. They stored our trailer as well, very cheaply, especially for Key West.Friendly folks, they provided fresh water to flush our motors when we left. I think it was officially a no-no. Carpy

Is a bare bottom a good thing?

I just had a similar discussion with my son who lives in Olympia Wa. I was mentioning having to paint Carpy's bottom for an extended visit to the PNW which is in our long range plans. He was appalled at the thought. He sails in Puget Sound and advised me to avoid bottom paint at all costs. He...
