Mary and I plan to drive over to Hontoon on either Tuesday or Wednesday. We have some schedule conflicts but plan to fit Hontoon 'in. Since we won't be in the boat, we'll probably just sleep overnight in the truck (like we did for four months last summer ... long story).

Google "Indian Python Hunters" and you'll find some articles about the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission which is trying a new approach to finding and eradicating the Burmese Python.
Here is an example:

Jay, I think that's one of the interesting characteristics of the St. John's River. On the surface it feels like a wilderness waterway - almost like something out of a Tarzan movie ... and now we even have monkey's! A variety of birds, and if you look closely you'll probably even see a Burmese...
Aah yes, Coasties and Alaska. Wonderful subject!
I think Alaskan boater's, and particularly commercial fishermen, almost worship the USCG.
When I live in King Salmon, AK (1981-87) The USCG Herc would fly over to King Salmon (AKN) when the wx got Really skunky. AKN had virtually all the IFR...
Hey Byrdman!
We'll look forward to crossing wakes with you one of these days, but it looks like we're back on the Trent-Severn Rideau Canal option.
Interesting idea about keeping a "west coast boat." We actually considered buying another Cape Cruiser and keeping it in Wrangell (AK) for...
P/P,
We'll be following your blog and progress. Great trip!
We met Flint and Leslie on the Erie Canal in 2015 - good traveling companions.
Does DayDream have auto pilot? ...Very handy.
Will you be using a SPOT or inReach during your Advenure? If so, please PM us your device address...
Colby/Pat&Patty/Flint&Leslie, et al,
Our timetable is very rough. We will probably leave FL in late May headed for T/S. We'll plan on Jun-Aug (SEP?) in Canada unless we're overcome with San Juan/Broughton-itis and the truck makes an abrupt turn toward Anacortes.
During our ICW/Erie Canal...
Dave, received the PortsCruising Guide. Thanks!
We're beginning T/S cruise planning, and I must admit to some misgivings re the Ontario Porta Potty reg's. I'd hate for this to be a deal-breaker, but frankly I'm not going to replumb the CC23 with some kind of half-assed deck pump out that...
Just considering some possibilities....
We were looking at some charts of the PNW, and while we thoroughly enjoy the Annacortes-to-Cape Caution region, I realized that we have never even been south of Port Angeles or explored Puget Sound.
Most cruising discussions seem focussed on areas north...
We've had "hard" bottom paint with multiple coats of barrier coat epoxy (first) on both Naknek and Dessert 1st. I prefer the non-ablative bottom paint. They seem more durable, better for trailering, and don't rub off if you're snorkeling and rub against the hull.
I had the barrier coats and...
Like Chuck and Penny, our summer plan is to cruise the T/S and the Rideau Canals. Although the 'plan is still pretty loose, we'll probably head North (from Florida) in mid-May. Working our way north, and hope to find some place around Kingston, ON to launch the boat and store the...
Dessert 1st is planning to do explore the Trent/Severn and Rideau this summer as well. Any cruising guides or other planning resources are appreciated!

Once again, I am impressed with the BoatUS magazine's line-up of articles.
This month is no exception. There is something for everyone.
P26 Eye Candy for Fish tells us which colors work best at different depths (due to color loss as the lure gets deeper).
P36 Discusses the continuing Florida...
Larry,
It's not a cruising guide per se, but ACTIVE CAPTAIN provides a lot of cruising information for virtually every area, plus it's FREE and TIMELY.
If you're not already familiar with it - download the program (and database) an learn how to use it.
It may make published cruising guides...
True. C-Dory's (and therefore C-Brats) constitute an affinity group that is hard to beat. Friends with similar interests, Adventurous, and looking toward tomorrow in the great outdoors.
Hard to beat.
...no, Impossible to beat!

Casey&Mary
As usual, all good points.
I would submit that another issue - LOADING, should be in the mix as well. While we may not consider it as having a direct impact on running/handling in a difficult situation, it does.
We enjoy our delightful C-Dory's. They're well built, spacious, and will carry...
I absolutely love the jokes. ...guess it's time for me to contribute:
A London lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by an Scottish cop. He thinks that he is smarter than the cop because he is a lawyer from LONDON and is certain that he has a better education than any Scottish cop. He...
Interesting situation.
As RobLL mentioned, the challenge is to get warmer air from a larger area (the cabin) into a smaller area (V-berth). Good as Calfamo fans are they may not be up to the task of blowing air into a smaller confined space (i.e. the V-berth).
Try this. Sit the Calfamo fan...
