    Here They Come

Sorry about your feelings of unfairness. FYI I have no feelings pro or con about this newer marine technology. I have not recommended electric boats or electric outboard motors. I have posted about it as a matter of interest for others who may want to learn something they may not be aware of...

    Here They Come

These motors just might be 'the thing' for those who disliked the often tight squeeze around vehicles and pumps refueling your boat on your trailer. No more inconveniences trying to save $ avoiding marine fuel prices. And forget those underway MPG calculations. With all electric, it's M/kWh...

    Here They Come

Don't care much for electric boats? How about the rapidly evolving eco-friendly electric outboard motors you can place on the stern of your C-Dory? https://boattest.com/article/vision-mar ... powertrain These VMT electric motors are soon to be available on Four Winns boats, Cadillac, MI based...

    Here They Come

Don't know. Maybe they value quality over quantity. Strange, yes? Aye.

    Here They Come

"Here" is Northern Michigan. "They" are electric boats. We know there are electric outboard motors for boats; also cars, trucks, drones, planes. If we felt the momentum, we could have (should have?) extrapolated to boats. https://www.traverseticker.com/news/sea ... -michigan/ Why Northern...

    Coolest C-Dory Ever by Me

Had a CD 26 Venture; no self draining cockpit, somewhat short freeboard. Felt vulnerable a few times. Don't like feeling that way "out there" (beyond rivers, bays and coastal). Got over it but never liked it. Two of several reasons I sold it for a bigger boat. Wonder if these features are...

    Coolest C-Dory Ever by Me

Is there data showing which came first, the chicken or the egg? Anyway, who cares? It's available. Aye.

    Coolest C-Dory Ever by Me

I've had my eye on this baby for sometime. It can be found here, less the lap strake hull: https://seasportboats.com/boat/alaskan-pilot-2600/ Whoa, less confusion if "single" were omitted. And, I agree. It would put a smile on most faces, for a while. Aye.

    C-Dory Predecesor

There are other uses for old boats not fit for further sea duty: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/231513237 ... /?mt=login The timing might just coincide with reverting back to your former self. Aye.

25/26 vs 22 in rough waters

On a sail from Newport to St Maarten, via Bermuda, I met a guy who sailed a Catalina 22 around the world, twice. Impressive, but not for just anybody. I like that. It goes with my current mantra 'less is more'... Aye.

25/26 vs 22 in rough waters

Any C Dory is not a "go anywhere big water boat". Realize, at extremes in weather, even the largest Navy ships have difficulties. I've had my CD 26 Venture challenge the large notorious "square wave"* pattern of Lake Michigan (aka The Lake of a Thousand Moods) and can report these experiences...

    How much rode wil fit

Yes, Harvey. For sticking yourself in more or less one place, nothing like putting heavy stuff on the bottom, in this instance. Upgrade to a beefier anchor and that's about all a bloke can do to immobilize himself. Tho' counterintuitive, more scope helps keep you in one place. Aye.

Air bags or other such systems

Air suspension in your tow vehicle obviates those problems. No air bags. No weight distribution hitch. No added expenses. No kidding. What bounce? My 2014 Crew Cab Ram 1500 4x4 5.7 Liter V8 Hemi w/3.92 axle ratio hauled my CD 26 Venture, 8350 lbs*, no problem. Aye. *Trailer + boat (2...

    How much rode wil fit

    A. Measure the total depth of your anchor locker. B. Measure the amount of that space taken up by your 300' of rode. The remaining unused space should be at least 1/3 of B. to fit 100' more rode. Aye. Grandma used to say, quoting Mark Twain: "It's not what we don't know that causes trouble...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I used to do U/W macrophotography but cannot come close to the masterful above photos. David Liittschwager has done it for National Geographic. See more, including a male seahorse giving birth, here: https://www.npr.org/sections/picturesho ... ttschwager Aye.

    insurance and lithium batteries

While lithium-ion batteries have become the preferred battery for solar backup, the type of lithium battery makes a difference. Goal Zero Yeti's use a lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide (NMC) battery, while the Bluetti AC 200P uses a lithium iron phosphate(LiFePO4 or LFP) battery. NMC...

    insurance and lithium batteries

Risks from proper mfg, storage, handling and charging lithium batteries may be decreasing, but, if you're unlucky enough to have a fire from one, when they're hot, they're hot. And, even on a boat (in the water), some water around isn't much help. Your onboard extra in a box Jabsco or Seaflow...

    Visibility off Port Bow

The same visibility problem exists from the "A" post in cars. As helmsman, it helps to move and look around a bit. You can't blame a collision on a camera that doesn't happen to be working. Aye.
