    Venture 23 vs Cruiser 22

This thread was bound to get legs. 😉 We also have a 2008 23 Venture. It was built by Fluid Marine as, I suspect, so was yours. These people build some nice boats and I think they may have built the best of the 23s. I don't think they made any money doing it so they got out of the business...

    Just an interesting moment

Thanks Greg i go through Page regularly and never knew about William. I wonder if his friends called him Bill? Another fun fact: Bob mentioned Active Pass between Mayne and Galiano islands. That's MUCH bigger. How big is it you may ask?? Well, I learned from a naturalist on board a BC ferry...

    Just an interesting moment

Thanks for the thought. You are right of course and that's what I usually do. In the circumstances 30 seconds would have me on the rocks if I shut both down. I'm sure my Yamahas can be run at low rpm for a while but that's not going to get me out of trouble in those conditions. A bit like...

    Just an interesting moment

I was coming back from a couple of days cruising yesterday and after weaving round the ferries in Swartz Bay I headed through Page Passage. For those who are not too familiar it's an interesting little pass with unforgiving rocks on either side. The tide rips through at a good clip when running...

    Boat purchase

Have a word with PBH in Alberni. They do this all the time and may even do it for you for a nominal and stress relieving surcharge. They are really good people.

    Hi Folks

Where do you launch? Are you still going to trailer? We spent about 18 years boating the Chesapeake. First boat in 1988 was a 28 Carver we kept at Charlestown. It was an easy drive down from Lancaster. Later we had it at Skipjack Cove on the Sassafrass and kept the son's 13 Whaler at the back...

EQ Marine ???? Update from Pacific North West Area Please

I have absolutely no idea what has happened in this case. My comments are pure conjecture. In my business life I met many people who invented or otherwise came up with "a better mouse trap". Most couldn't imagine why the world did not beat a path to their door. The answer is that developing a...

    Sidney to Vancouver?

Thanks for the tips. So if I am thinking of going over to Granville Island for a couple of days, can you suggest a course?

    Sidney to Vancouver?

I am sure that many of my local friends have made the trip over to Vancouver from the Victoria area, particularly from Sidney. I have yet to do this one but was thinking about an early Spring run. (Not the salmon  ). I have run all over the Gulf and San Juan Islands and my inclination...

New hoops for Canadian boaters, what do you think about thi

Fortunately I have a Nexus card, as does my wife, and can report by phone rather than meet the face to face requirement. http://www.cbp.gov/travel/pleasure-boat ... t-overview The CBP decal is for vessels >30ft overall so no requirement there. https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail ...

    A Surreal C Brat Moment

My apologies that I didn't recognize you immediately! I didn't win the life jacket but I met some great people because I wore it around the show. Really enjoyed the show and would still swap my Venture for a 24 Cutwater. Only 100,000 CDN stands between me and a dream. 😢

    C-Dory Window Question

I have to say that the Diamond Seaglaze people are really great to deal with. Give them a call and a credit card number. The part will arrive at your door.

    Honda 135 HP engine shutdown-intermittent

Great advice! I had the same thing happen some years ago with a different brand. My problem turned out to be a blockage at the fuel filter (the filter itself was fine) connection. Check the bulb.

    Battery life

When we lived on the Chesapeake we had the boat on a lift. The best charger was installed and levels checked regularly. My batteries lasted about three years. Since moving to Vancouver Island and buying Chimo the boat has been in a shed and the factory charger connected to shore power. I have...

    reverse chines pro/con

With all respect, the difference is not to be measured in a couple of inches. When we had the decision to make between the two boats configuration, fittings and finish did come into the picture for sure. More than anything though, it was the ride that convinced us. We took both out in a good 3ft...

    No Condensation,

Our 23 Venture was fully foam insulated at the factory and I've never had a problem. Did you add foam over the existing insulation? Thanks

    First overnight on Venture!

We have a 2008 venture 23. The water tank is under the seat opposite the stove. You mention a bow installation. Is that under the V-berth?

    Boats with a flybridge?

We had a 28 Carver Mariner. The Mariner did not have the lower helm, that was the Voyager, otherwise the boats were very similar. Twin 305s. It was the best use of space on a 28 I have ever seen. The settee worked great for our son. It was a double. Some times his buddy would come along and use...
