    09/22 to 09/23 - Lake Powell 2018

Diana and I are planning on leaving the NW after 9/10, taking 3-4 days to get to LP. I think we are going to launch at Bullfrog. I think our route will be via a lot of backroads, for two reasons. One, it’s more scenic. Two, I hate driving through Salt Lake. TBD... Fred, Harvey if you want...

Colby, good news! I hope it works out for you!

    Any cons to camper back?

Bob, if my side panels are in, it’s very hard to unsnap from the cabin top and flip it back. I just had a communication miss with our canvas guy when I described what I wanted. Because of that, I rarely use the sides and back unless in very wet conditions.

    Any cons to camper back?

Bob, I understood it to be a Bimini like mine, where you have to either unsnap from the cabin, or crawl in when you’re at a dock.

    Any cons to camper back?

We put cheap fleece blankets between the layers before we roll them up. I’m not sure it’s needed, but I don’t want the windows to scratch.

    Any cons to camper back?

Chuck, that “limbo top” comment made my day! Yup, I learned the hard way about the limbo top, and the older I get... the less limbo I get. I should get off my duff and go back to the canvas shop and have our top modified. It will mean getting the side windows and mooring cover modified as...

    Any cons to camper back?

Done right, I don’t see downsides to a camper back. They can be stowed against the house to be out of the way for cockpit activities like fishing. It’s nice to have shade and to have extra dry space. One thing we and our canvas shop missed was not having zippered access through the top...

    Solar Charging Battery Bank(s)

I’ve still got my old Pickett 1010 Power Trig Rule  . If I could just remember how to use anything beyond simple multiply and divide.

Minimum HP for a 22 Cruiser?

We just repowered with Suzuki 115 and are impressed with it. Getting on plane is extremely quick and easy, and I expect to have a much easier time when cruising at elevation.

Divers thoughts on the Thai caves!?

I am not sure the O2 was for divers, but yes one atmosphere of O2 can kill you. I thought the Oxygen was for replenishing levels in the cave, not for divers. At one point O2 was down to 15% where the team was. Normal air is 20% O2 and 80% Nitrogen. It could also have been used when the...

    09/22 to 09/23 - Lake Powell 2018

Just a bump for a date reminder. The potluck is scheduled for Sept 22-23 at Oak Canyon. Saturday 9/22 is the potluck... We will try and be in to there at least a day early to stake out a site. Of course people will be on the pond before and after that weekend. I hope to see you there!

    22' Cruiser or 22' Angler

The cruiser fishes two comfortably, three not as much, four real tight. Cabin space on an angler is tight for more than three.

    Suzuki 2.5 Long Shaft

I have had the 2.5 on my transom. It was tight, but fit. If I get crazy, I’ll check the long shaft fit before I buy.

    Worry Box Question

Since Iodine is a halide, it also helps kill parasites and other critters in water. Ive taken many a backpacking trip drinking water with halazone tablets and Fizzies to mask the flavor. http://www.princeton.edu/~oa/manual/water.shtml

    Worry Box Question

Vern, that’s to purify the water when the Cascadia subduction zone let’s go! I think he was putting one more worry in my worry box... :smileo Bob, worry part 2: that might be the really low tank, and the other tank is bad. I’m thinking my original idea of pumping via a squeeze bulb might...

    Worry Box Question

I uses a filter instead of iodine :D I haven’t looked at access to the top, but last time I was in there it seemed tight on top. Guess I better get off my duff and check.

    Worry Box Question

Does anyone have a good work aroundif you lose a fuel pickup while on a cruise? My only thoughts would involve using a hose (portable tank?) to pull the fuel out of the crippled tank. Any other simple ideas?
