Removed extra start battery. Replaced FLA house with Lithium

You're right. My issue on the RV is where to put the thing out of the weather near the battery bank. On my boat with my whopping 10 amp charging system? Yeah....it get charged at home.

Removed extra start battery. Replaced FLA house with Lithium

My concern with any LIFEPO4 setup is frying the wiring and the alternator. It is enough of a concern that it has made me pause with installing one in my RV and live with the commercial FLA configuration I have now. With that said, I have an LIFEPO4 on my boat too for a house battery, but my...

    Cruiser '22 Dual 50's to Single 115

I have ancient old twin 45s with tons of hours and get just over 30 mph with full fuel and water. Even loaded to the gills with people and gear it still manages 22-24 mph. Something isn't right with your set-up. And....forgot to put this before the edit....my redline is just north of 6k rpms...

Help converting roller trailer to bunks CD22

It may seem like you're being ignored, but I don't think that is true. I don't think anyone has schematics or blueprints for bunks to put on your EZ Loader roller trailer. But....if you're going that route, and I've done it with 2 other non C-Dory boats, it wasn't hard, but it was time...

    Repower Time

The only reason I'd want more power than 90 hp on the CD 22 is to be able to move the boat at 25-30 mph when hauling enough gear for extended cruising and fishing without running full throttle and making a bunch of unwanted noise. Generally speaking, the 90 hp most of them have hanging off the...

    Engine making oil fix

It sounds like you are getting somewhere. Bad computers do really strange things. A friend had a car that would die randomly and the shop couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. He spent a fortune in towing and "repairs" trying to fix it. I bought the car from him as he was so sick of it and...

    Outboard Tell Tale Stream

I don't put a lot of stock in what that little stream is doing as they get clogged. It probably has a rubber line running to a port to the side of the powerhead. The first thing I have always done is run a piece of welding wire through it. Lots and lots of times, there is nothing wrong anywhere...

    New trailer

The same thing happens here in a state that supposedly doesn't do that. I'm glad the turds were caught and you got your stuff back. I don't know your particulars with your insurance, but a lot of times if the trailer was hooked to the truck it will be covered by the truck's insurance. I have had...

    Engine making oil fix

95 is pretty low as you are aware. I don't see how the low compression could cause the extra oil concern you are having. I can see how the bad thermostat would eventually. And maybe when they changed it they put a bit too much in as well. Pure speculation there though. I am having a hard time...

    Repower Time

I think you're going to love it. And why not post how much the repower costs? I've never understood why it had to be a secret. I think you got a fair deal, and quite possibly a great deal as I have heard 20k being the going rate up here. I still say there's a lot to like about the 140 as well...

Seaplane collides with boat in Vancouver.

Float plane pilots feel like they own the water. I don't get it, I guess the sky wasn't enough? Anyway, they can have all the water they need in my opinion.

    New trailer

Well the pesky police doing their job wrecked the dream of getting a new trailer....or was a happy ending to your nightmare.

    Help. Battery question

I can't prove it either way, but what describe sounds like a compromise battery. And that is probably just fine as it gives you a situation where have some of the attributes of true deep cycle and also starting. I don't think this a new idea. In regards to eliminating a FLA battery type? I...

Boat Weight Dory 23 and trailer

I would think a 23 would weigh about 10-20 percent more than a 22. So....lots of variables here....but I'd think you'd have to real loading skills to have it weigh over 6k with the trailer.

    V-berth dimensions

If you go to the c-dory site and download the brochure, it does give the dimensions, specifications, and capacities of each boat. And by the way, all of them, except the tomcat, are about the same length....6.25 feet to 6.33 feet. Width will be slightly less than beam of the boat as where you...

    Ford F150

My gut and experience say starter solenoid, but like anything you need to go through a process of elimination with a meter to really get to the bottom of it. The odds are though a new starter will remedy the hot no start condition. When I worked on stuff for a living an extremely long time ago...

New (used) lower unit, a new noise, an other variables

I didn't think prop "sing" was an issue with outboard motors. I learned something today.

New (used) lower unit, a new noise, an other variables

The prop will not impact the wear pattern on the gear set because the end play and bearing tolerances are not going to move regardless of what prop you put on it. To a small degree they are dynamic, but they are as close to static as you can get. If they were not, then you would have serious...

New (used) lower unit, a new noise, an other variables

In my opinion a worn out gear case or one that wasn't set up perfectly will make the noise with any prop on it under load. I'm glad it went away.

New (used) lower unit, a new noise, an other variables

If you run for a few hours and then drain the lower unit oil and there are metal shavings, you have issues. Can you take it back?
